The idea of an intelligence explosion caused by recursive self improvement has been around for a long time but until very recently it did not seem imminent. Now many leading researchers think it may happen quite soon. You can read our paper about it here:

@Tesla FSD has gotten much better over the past year. in the past people bought Teslas because they're electric cars, now more and more people are going to buy them because they can drive themselves
Last long weekend, I finally had some time to read some less-hyped books and papers. I chose “Hints for Computer System Design” by Lampson. Surprisingly, even though the paper was written more than 40 years ago, most of its principles still apply to modern distributed systems. What a masterpiece!
The emphasis on simplicity, speed, and efficiency is exactly what we need when building training and inference systems today.
My favorite quote from the paper: “Perfection is reached not when there is no longer anything to add, but when there is no longer anything to take away.”
For my first post, I’m sharing a letter @NVIDIA signed on why open models matter.
AI will transform every industry, power every company, and be built by every country.
Open models strengthen safety and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and diffusion, and enable sovereignty.
The world needs both frontier closed models and frontier open models.
