After an eventful week at EthCC in Cannes, our team is back in the office. Here are our key takeaways:

Major institutions like BlackRock and Deutsche Bank are no longer on the sidelines - they are actively embracing blockchain technology as a transformative upgrade to financial infrastructure and are building on Ethereum and other platforms.

Ethereum and crypto broadly are being positioned as back-end rails for modern finance, rather than niche alternatives.

A dual narrative is emerging: institutions emphasize blockchain’s core values like security and resilience, while retail users often prioritize convenience and usability.

The ecosystem is fragmenting into application-specific L2s, but also pushing toward interoperability and unified user experiences. You could feel a growing emphasis on scalability, UX, and onboarding.

Ethereum (and broader blockchain tech) will be invisibly integrated into infrastructure for payments, identity, and finance - used in consumer apps without people necessarily knowing it’s crypto.

Robinhood's presence and announcements from big fintechs gained major mind-share, underscoring how crypto is getting embedded into mass-market products.

Despite stagnating markets, the vibe was optimistic and builder-focused. With major institutional players entering the game, this cycle does feel like the often-cited beginning of mass adoption.

A new sense of anticipation is building in the ecosystem. Cannes was a great host location for the conference and the many side events taking place in beautiful venues along the beaches of the French Riviera.

Overall, EthCC 2025 showcased Ethereum's and crypto’s maturation as a platform and its expanding influence across various sectors.
