First day of University all over again, but this time at @BrockUniversity as an assistant professor! Really feeling the first day jitters, or maybe just too much coffee.
A lifelong dream of mine has come true: I am thrilled to announce that I will be joining the Department of Chemistry at Brock University in July 2022 as an assistant professor!! ๐ซ๐#PhDChat
I've been using a reel mower for this season in an attempt to lower my carbon footprint. Older gas lawnmowers are inefficient where the air pollution released a 1 hour session equates to driving 550 km! I was stopped by 3 neighbors today asking if I wanted to use their gas mower.
Toddler saw cauliflower and asked "but we can check if it's broccoli" (his prefered of the two). How early is too early to learn species concepts... Cause like... It kinda is broccoli...

Wildlife Rehabilitation (WR) is the treatment and release of injured #wildlife. WR focusses on individual animals, not populations.
But is WR also a potential #conservation tool?

@Christina_Davy@riskindan@SaveWildBees Hmm... Not that I can find (but I'm no expert). I don't think we have "periodical cicadas" that synchronize their emergence, but there are "annual cicadas" that have lifecycles >1y but they don't all emerge in the same year.
@Christina_Davy@ChrisDarling_ca It looks like an Ichneumonid to me but I can't be much more help than that. It's a ginormous family and I'm not too familiar with it. Beautiful though!! Look at that ovipositor!
Happy #WorldTurtleDay!
I started working with sea turtles with @Archelon_stps in 2001, & never looked back.
Iโm now the luckiest person on Earth studying freshwater ๐ข on the #WetlandsAndReptilesProject ๐
To all the wonderful turtles & people I get to work with - thank you.
Projects are online! With most regional science fairs cancelled across Canada, YSC is hosting an online fair this year. Every year I'm amazed by what our participants come up with and how enthusiastic they are to share their work so I hope you'll check some out! ๐
We are live! The YSC Online STEM Fair is now open for public viewing, and there are hundreds of incredible student projects to check out.
Jump online to https://t.co/maTorgAAk8 to see the projects as well as our amazing STEM Expo!
We need renewable energy sources. AND we need them to be wildlife-friendly.
Excited to share our new study in @ConBiology, estimating trends in #bat abundance ๐ฆ with Kelly Squires and @RZimmerling.

@Rob0Sullivan To keep little me from breaking the stereo my dad told me the speakers would 'blow' if I turned the volume too high. He meant they would stop working but I took it as blow up in a fiery explosion. My parent's parties were terrifying until they figured it out and clarified. Haha
Cool fact - in August 2019 a beautiful biologically rich wetland complex @TrentUniversity was officially recognized as a Provincially Significant Wetland. I've highlighted Pioneer Road in yellow and roughly the campus boundary in red. @CityPtbo@CityPtbo @PtboNature @TrentArthur
I think I made my partner late for his zoom meeting so he could help troubleshoot the audio for our 1 year old's zoom meeting. These are strange times. #WorthIt#VirtualCircleTime
