Dr. Brooke Wilson:
The use of routinely collected administrative data sets for economic analyses of clinical trials presents a unique opportunity that could complement and validate economic analyses based on trial-level data.
Our study highlights the trade-off with new effective therapies, for which there are greater health care costs and time toxicity but an associated improvement in patient survival.
Dr. Brooke Wilson:
The lack of sociodemographic diversity in clinical trials limits the generalizability of results. Among FDA approvals between 2010-2021, no significant differences in PFS or OS outcomes were identified when the analyses were stratified by sex or race.
