This is essentially my opinion on people who don’t consider me Jewish because I’m patrilineal. You’re still welcome to follow/interact if you don’t consider me Jewish 🙂.
So TLDR I don’t fault people for having a traditional understanding of Halacha, but I do fault people for failing to consider the human part of the issue or thinking I’m just like someone with no Jewish heritage.
@cam_barnette@WestsideLAGuy Oh yeah. I mean, I’m very appreciative of the education I got, but it’s also not the only way to get a great education. I also never had any interest in fields that cared about prestige.
@libbyemmons I went to one of the NYC private schools on this list and I disagree. People who send their kids to these schools do care about college admissions (and in the case of the private schools, many care about connections), but they also deeply value education. My education served me
@cam_barnette@WestsideLAGuy I went to one of the NYC private schools on the list and that was exactly my experience. I didn’t go to a T25 and was happy with how college turned out for me.
@WestsideLAGuy I went to a NYC private school on the list and didn’t go to a top-25 college and that’s so not true. You’re assuming a degree from one of these schools is an automatic ticket to a T25 and that’s not true (especially without the $$ that makes a difference to an admissions office)
@WorldsWorstXMan@prettycritical Rounding up is nbd, but 4 inches is ridiculous (also I have been measured as 5’7.75” but I round up to 5’8” bc 5’7.75” just sounds silly).
@SeanTrende At my school it was boy’s and girls’ lax. Def not field hockey. Field hockey was neutral (neither cool nor uncool) and I say this as someone who played field hockey.
A 7 year old disabled boy named Teon had his electric wheelchair stolen and police closed the case after two hours.
Ableism is everywhere.
Public pressure from The Source got the case reopened.
Share far & wide and help Teon get a new chair!
the community would benefit from watching media of queer identities other than their own. watch pose even if you’re not trans. watch moonlight even if you’re not gay. watch but i’m a cheerleader even if you’re not sapphic. you do not exist in a vacuum. all queerness is connected.
@deidrejowen 1. Blue to blue green
2. 29
3. None! Though I’m definitely sensitive to sunlight and squint more easily than some (if it’s bright out and I’m not wearing sunglasses).
Speaker @NYCSpeakerAdams the Respect for Paras bill should be on the agenda for city council. It’s criminal the way our colleagues are treated in this system
