Oh dear. I’ve rather put my foot in it. In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people. I’m horrified to have caused so much hurt and I shall be more careful in future.
This is not just black people protesting. All races have had enough of the abuse of black lives. Things must change. Everyone of us needs to be the change for good. #BeTheChange#BLACK_LIVES_MATTER
Stephen Colbert: “It’s not just U.S. citizens protesting racism in the United States — protesters gathered in London, Toronto, even Berlin. You know it’s bad when Germany thinks your country’s racist. That’s like Jamaica telling you to put down the bong.” https://t.co/amcGMp4teR
As millions of people across the country take to the streets and raise their voices in response to the killing of George Floyd and the ongoing problem of unequal justice, I’ve heard many ask how we can sustain momentum to bring about real change.
We have a platform, a voice, and a duty to our Black members, employees, artists, visitors and followers to speak up and stand for human rights and anti-racism. Nobody should have to live in fear because of the colour of their skin. #BlackLivesMatter 1/3
"We are witnessing a failure of presidential leadership at a time when this country, when we the people, need it more than ever."
@AndersonCooper on Trump pledging to send active military troops into US cities "to dominate" demonstrators amid protests over George Floyd's death.
"OK, you broke into Nike, make sure you wear those Nike shoes to the next City Council meeting. Whoever broke into the Gucci store, make sure you create an agenda and put that agenda about your demands in your purse and bring it to the meeting." @jahmal_cole #chicagoprotest
