The America vulture capitalists now running Thames Water are trumpeting Liz Barber, former CEO of Yorkshire Water, as the new saviour of the company.

Would that be the same Liz Barber who put up customer's bills by 41% and then refused to give up her own bonus? Of course it would.

Liz Barber was paid £1.32 million in her final year as CEO of Yorkshire Water.

We pay for the system through our bills. Yet almost 1/3 of them go to returns for investors and creditors.

What just happened in Ceuta was an orchestrated power move against Spain using migrants as a weapon. Young, unemployed Moroccan men lured by social media groups with promises of a new life and literally bussed to the border and ushed across by Moroccan authorities, were met only by an array of cameras awaiting them. Almost all returned home the next day. We are in a new era of warfare where the new weapons of geopolitical power-plays are ai, disinformation, deepfakes, troll farms and the poor - and Spain just got sent a message.

Someone explain how a single person on minimum wage in the UK is meant to build any sort of life anymore?

You work full-time. You show up, do your job, pay your taxes, and after everything comes out you’re left with around £1,700 a month.

Then the real fun begins.

Rent: £800 if you manage to find one of the cheaper places.
Council tax: £120.
Gas, electric, water, internet, phone: easily £350.
Food: £70 a week just to eat.

That’s your entire income basically gone before you’ve even done anything.

No savings.
No holidays.
No unexpected expenses.
No replacing your car when it breaks.
No emergency money.

Just working all month to make sure you can afford to work next month.

And then someone who bought their first house for the price of a Tesco meal deal tells you that the issue is “people don’t work hard enough”.

The reality is simple.

A full time job used to be the way you built a future.

For a lot of people now, it’s just the thing that stops them falling behind.
