@Erling how can anyone hate on this man?
He carried Norway to the quarter finals this world cup, and most of all he's always HUMBLE..
The streets will never forget
Lmao I can’t believe she’s actually made this statement, and posted it on socials, as if Ijtima is some friendly community gathering like a church fete. She neglects to mention that it’s banned in several Muslim countries. We should be asking why it’s happening in Britain.
Right then … as Ross Clark points out, the claim that 2,700 people were killed by the heat is bollocks. (Technical term)
It was presented as an actual death toll. It wasn’t. It was a modelling exercise and er.… not actual mortality
UKHSA found NO excess mortality during the May heatwave.
And in the 2 published ONS weeks covering most of June’s heatwave, death registrations were actually 918 BELOW expected.
But the hysterical headlines pushed the narrative as if it was fact. As always, question everything.
@JordiGriff Tshwane thinks steet lights is not priority. Pretoria should be renamed the Dark City because it's pitch black at night. I sincerely hope his family sues the shit out of the City of Tshwane. @CityTshwane
@JordiGriff I use that route/road weekly... it's a shitshow
Condolences to Mr. van der Berg's family
Surely someone should take accountability and held liable?
@JordiGriff@blairbird I cannot comprehend how City of Tshwane has not issued a statement! I hope the van der Berg family get legal assistance and sue the city for gross negligence and manslaughter.
@JordiGriff That's blatant culpability on the CoT's part. I hope a kind attorney offers to sue the crap out of them pro bono to help the family restore their lives now that a pillar was taken from them.
Zero streetlights and a minefield of excavations cost 51 year old Hugo van Der Berg from Secunda his life in Pretoria on Saturday night.
While returning from the rugby at Loftus, Hugo fell into one of the many open excavations left open by construction by the City of Tshwane.
Thousands of spectators leaving Loftus stadium had to navigate literal deathtraps to get to their cars. Pitch black due to no streetlights and zero proper blockages or markings. Hugo was the third person to fall into the excavations.
Despite numerous warnings to the Metro, Mayor and MMC. Absolutely zero was done. They have yet to even go to the scene or issue a statement.
It's too late now. They should have deployed immediately. What a tragedy. Please keep this man's family in your prayers.
Totally avoidable. Gross negligence.
In an unprecedented move, Labour have scrapped the Conservative vote to force Andy Burnham to come to Parliament to answer questions when he becomes PM on Monday.
Labour are running scared because they know the honeymoon will be over the minute he has to tell us his plans.
I noticed yesterday that the Ann Widdecombe parliamentary debate steered into being about “online safety.” Particularly by Lucy Powell.
Just like with David Amess, they’re using Ann’s murder to push an insidious agenda.
They’re doing exactly what they accused Reform of doing.
When Wayne Broadhurst was savagely butchered walking his dog in Uxbridge, the Prime Minister got up at PMQs and opened with… Jamaica and a hurricane.
No mention of Wayne. No mention of a British man stabbed to death by an Afghan who arrived illegally in a lorry. No tribute, no condolences, no statement of anger or resolve.
On social media, locals and commentators pointed out the silence: Wayne’s name not trending, no candlelit vigils, no Labour press release, no cabinet minister sent to look the family in the eye and say “this should never have happened.”
Starmer’s priorities were crystal clear: perform empathy for a foreign tragedy in front of the cameras, maintain total radio silence when a British citizen is killed by the direct consequences of his own asylum and border policies.
@norfolk_pete I keep looking at this video & I can’t see the destruction of a nest or falling debris. When I look at the top of the pole it doesn’t look like it is in contact with anything as you can see a gab between the apex of the roof and the pole. What I do see is what looks like a stuck bird being encouraged to free itself & then the pole being held very still so it doesn’t hit the bird whilst it’s in flight.
At this point I’m wondering if this is a video that someone posted freeing a bird, someone else then took the video and added false context for clicks. I don’t mean you @norfolk_pete but the secondary source of the video.
If I missed something then fair enough but I’m doubting the text on the video with what I can see when I zoom in. I think some character has turned a good deed video into a nest destroying outcry video by just adding text over it.
Sometimes birds can get their little claws stuck in the small slats of the plastic roof vents and need a bit of persuading to free themselves. It’s crazy I know but sometimes they need a bit of a scare to free themselves.
In short as I watch the top of the pole rise I didn’t see the top of the pole touch anything.
