🆘: Help us raise funds for Boba's medical treatment.
Boba is the sweetest indie who has been suffering from a maggot-infested neck wound for weeks now. He had given up hope and crawled into an abandoned construction site to pass away silently. We didn't give up on him tho...
"Here is a book that excavates, examines and exorcises (the last is a continuous process) what we normally sweep under the carpet or talk about in hushed tones."
A wonderful review of my book "That Beautiful Elsewhere" in @SheThePeople

A cathartic, honest and deeply vulnerable interview with Mithila Menzes about my book "That Beautiful Elsewhere". Get your copy here - https://t.co/lPBksxUnte
"Two striking features of this book which make for a wholesome read are (i) the personal narratives & (ii) the excerpts and references to books and media from various genres, be it fiction, non-fiction, poetry, journals, academic papers, movies, TV shows." https://t.co/tgwsBEEA6L
Boredom in our individual and social perception is almost always framed as an aversive or avoidable experience. However, research proves that periods of boredom are useful in developing adaptive life skills.
We deep dive (navel-gaze?) into boredom

Family members are either overtly or covertly discouraged from autonomy. In extremely enmeshed families, any independent choice is considered a betrayal to the family. At the root is this misguided need to force roles on people without learning how to build a relationship.
'Enmeshment' is a form of destablising attachment pattern. In India, it is not an anomaly but usually a standard way to establish familial relationships. Boundaries are blurred, adult-child roles are unclear/reversed/. Control is masked as care/concern.
We are open for new therapy appointments.
We have a few slots in case you think you need to speak to a trained professional about your mental and emotional health.

"Trauma-bonding is an ignored aspect of abusive relationships where repeated cycles of abuse end up convincing a victim that the volatile relationship is their only anchor."
Revisiting this piece about the cost of glorifying intimate partner violence—

"That Beautiful Elsewhere is a collection, or rather a recollection, of stories of struggle that we don’t tell others. 10 chapters attest to the author’s intent to aim for “catharsis without pageantry”."
A thoughtful review of "That Beautiful Elsewhere"

"If this Self is indeed a door, then let it be one that leads to a garden path or a courtyard, not to a closet or a cupboard where a young child sobs wordlessly or to a room where a mother disappears in plain sight."
