Tää on erikoinen ulostulo.
Rahoituksen evääminen on kuolemien edistämistä.
For Norway to sanction deep sea mining is beyond appalling. Fossil fuels have made it very rich with a sovereign wealth fund that will provide for its citizens for generations. What more do they need? Why should poor countries act responsibly when the richest do this?
Emissions from Israel’s war in Gaza have ‘immense’ effect on climate catastrophe - demonstrating not just how war & climate are interconnected but how ending settler colonialism & climate colonialism are are one fight https://t.co/jVxr3KPvvG
I've never seen such cruelty targeted at one journalist. Israel murdered many of his relatives at once, targeted him, and now killed another son.
There is a lesson in the silence of the West and the tenacity of Palestine. But above all, grief, because no man should endure this.
Here's my report on the the extraordinarily cynical push by the US and other rich, oil and gas producing countries at COP28 to paint themselves as climate heroes for championing a fossil fuel "phase-out" while continuing to make that virtually impossible https://t.co/iQln8CizSF
"Transitioning away from fossil fuels", they said
[except Norway, where record new investment in oil & gas is expected]
So, here is the baseline, let's see if COP text means anything, & if Norway is "accelerating action in this critical decade"

Very difficult to stomach developed countries talking self-congratulatorily about "climate justice" when they're the perpetuators of massive injustice by failing to reduce emissions, deliver finance, support adaptation and L&D, & enable a real fossil fuel phaseout globally #COP28
Given a choice, many would choose a transition if that transition could guarantee energy access, prosperity. But they are stuck in a fossil fuelled cycle, and there is NO HELP coming. Developed countries "don't see the relevance" of international cooperation to just transition.
You can see the bind many developing countries are in: damned if they do and damned if they don't. Did they build a global economy with fossil fuels as the basis? No, but they have to operate in it, in many cases lumbered with debts that they attempt to service through FF revenue
It's a damning indictment of the selfishness of Western society that despite living in a pandemic that has killed tens of millions of people, we haven't even learned to normalize wearing a mask or staying home when we are sick, regardless of what bug you might have.
Only developed countries have the ability to deliver the missing ingredient to make this whole process work. Not only are they not doing it, they're signaling that they never want to do it, by watering all new text recalling their obligations. #COP28#GlobalStocktake (5/6)
Tomorrow is a general strike for Palestine demanding an immediete end to the ongoing atrocities. If you really have to go to work or school, don't consume or buy anything from anywhere.
This is the least we can do for people losing their lives.
