🚨 This is unlawful.

Under Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, acquisition of territory by force is prohibited. The West Bank is recognised as occupied territory under international law, including by the ICJ (2004 Advisory Opinion; 2024 Advisory Opinion).

Annexation, whether formal or “de facto” through settlements, infrastructure, administrative integration or transfer of powers, violates:

🔷 The prohibition on acquisition of territory by force

🔷 Article 49(6) of the Fourth Geneva Convention (transfer of civilian population into occupied territory)

🔷 The Palestinian people’s right to self-determination

➡️ It also entrenches an unlawful situation that third states are under a duty not to recognise or assist.

This is a direct challenge to the international legal order.

All states must respond with direct consequences to this act of wilful violation of the law.

I want to express my deepest sorrow and solidarity with the Palestinians.

The scale of the slaughter and suffering is beyond comprehension. The cruelty, the brutality, the stolen lives. Children are killed and mutilated, Young women and men are murdered, starved, maimed and tortured. A nation where the streets smell of blood.
