If we reach 1.5°C, this is what is going to happen:
‼️Every fraction of a degree matters—beyond 1.5°C, the risks and damages from extreme weather, sea-level rise, and biodiversity loss increase dramatically.

“In my view it is impossible to survive that sort of change.”
The late Dr. Will Steffen on the 4C temperature rise predicted across the coming decades.
The extreme heat & disruption we’re experiencing as we approach 1.5C suggests he was absolutely right.
Mind blowing.
This alone should end climate denial and spur governments to act with urgency to END the oil industry, make them pay for the damage done and a RAPID transition to renewable energy and electrification.

No changes - #Antarctic sea ice still continues its record decline
More figures at https://t.co/V0Lt0w1sTi. All of the individual regional seas are observing unusually low ice.
The Limits to Growth was published in 1972. It was based on a computer model which analysed how the Earth would cope with unrestricted economic growth. @bbcworldservice hears from one of the authors of the book, Professor Dennis Meadows: https://t.co/hVBNDGWHGf
'Earth system scientists say that the world’s planetary boundaries for interference with the nitrogen cycle have already been surpassed, meaning that there is a high risk of irreversible changes to ecosystems and biodiversity.'

Only 1 of the mass extinction events were caused by impact. Most were caused by sudden rise in CO2 levels. You’d think with the full knowledge of these facts humans would take a different course of action. Not currently.
