I have no idea what school will look like in the Fall, but whether it’s in-person or online, it will NEED to include tons of SEL and healing-informed work to deal with staff, student, and family trauma. Compassion before curriculum.
White Teachers make up 80% of the profession and have a moral obligation to teach students, especially White students, about the oppression and injustices that other groups endured and are still enduring.
Especially when they are left out of the curriculum.

We are at a critical point in our response to COVID-19. British Columbians are making a difference. What we are doing today is working – but we are not out of danger yet. We must keep it up. Every person in BC needs to work together to prevent the spread of COVID-19. #COVIDBC
This pandemic has already revealed that:
- schools are so much more than just schools.
- many people now realize how tough it is to be a teacher and that teachers are grossly underpaid.
- teachers are irreplaceable and essential to learning and education.

One of the most powerful teaching tools I use every year—allowing students to post their worries & providing a space for others to help problem solve. We too often forget that in between the academics, our kids are overwhelmed with these powerful thoughts. #itsworthit#SEL
thank you @M_Bortolotto for powerful speech today at #SFU and for empowering us student teachers to ensure all students are accountable, courageous, creative and think critically. #SFUed#studentteacher

It's heartbreaking to see land defenders & Indigenous matriarchs dragged off their land.
If @JustinTrudeau wants Canadians to believe him when he says nation-to-nation relationships are the most important, he needs to come back to Canada and back up his words with action.

I love this idea! I believe this would invite opportunities for collaboration with teachers and the greater community. It demonstrates our commitment as teachers to being life-long learners and working and growing with our peers.
I love how one of our instructional coaches is highlighting Ts strengths in the classroom by posting these affirmations on their door. Growth mindset is important for coaches as they develop their team members! So thankful to have Liz on our team! Great stuff is happening.
I'm so happy to share my youth friendly guide to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action! Let's work together to end the unfairness! https://t.co/yE881DE122
