U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent joined me today for a roundtable discussion with local small business owners and community members in Jefferson Valley, focusing on the issues that matter most to families—affordability, taxes, and economic opportunity. From tax relief on tips and overtime to an expanded Child Tax Credit and a higher SALT cap, we walked through how these policies are putting more money back in people’s pockets and making it easier to live and work in the Hudson Valley.

This year, the average federal refund is over $3,500—a meaningful return that helps households manage higher costs and strengthens overall economic stability. That’s a much larger refund than families received last year, and it makes a real difference for Hudson Valley residents.

The Secretary also visited Regeneron in Tarrytown, one of the crown jewels of our district. We toured their state-of-the-art facilities and saw firsthand how cutting-edge research and manufacturing are creating high-quality jobs right here in NY-17.
