Unprecedented UK Sanctions on Israel Are Coming. How Will British Jews Respond?
Imminent settlements sanctions: What they may cover, the backlash & will UK Jews absorb – or confront – the shrill messaging from the Netanyahu govt? | My @haaretzcom analysis

Great joining @MaxFosterCNN on @cnni about E1.
My message was simple: this isn’t really about another housing project. It’s about Israel’s strategic future.
Israel must be able to defend itself and meet the security lessons of October 7. But security control and permanent civilian settlement are not the same thing.
Good strategy preserves options. E1 potentially closes them.
If a two-state outcome isn’t possible today, Israel should at least preserve the possibility for tomorrow.
We can defend Israel today without surrendering our choices for its future.
Anyone doubting the courage and resolve of Israel’s Democrats to fight for human rights, civic equality and peace - has not met @KarivGilad.
Anyone ridiculing our rekindled future hopes for the coming election - for both Israelis and Palestinians - need not follow this account.

"The most painful moments are rarely acts of open hostility. They arrive dressed as pragmatism. They are accompanied by shrugs and apologies and explanations about circumstances. Nobody says that one voice matters more than another. Nobody needs to. The outcome communicates the message perfectly well.”

The JRC was delighted to work alongside the Israeli Embassy to facilitate a successful visit to Greater Manchester by @DanielaGrudsky, Chargé d’Affaires, and @efratperri, Director of Public Diplomacy.
During the visit, they met with a number of key stakeholders from across Greater Manchester’s Jewish community, engaging in constructive and meaningful discussions.
Conversations focused on the current situation in the Middle East, its impact on communities here in the UK, and the importance of continuing to stand with and support Israel during these challenging times.
I was really pleased to be invited to attend an Equi event last night, invited by Prof Javed Khan OBE and enroute to be interviewed by ITV on the Mann Review of NHS and antisemitism. The timing was accidental but there are some very common themes. Thoughts more detailed here:

A Jewish schoolboy who says his classmates hissed at him to replicate the sound of a gas chamber, as well as threatened to vandalise his house with swastikas, has fought to introduce a new class on 'contemporary antisemitism' in his school to challenge these views.
I can’t sleep. All weekend I listened to people worried about the Tommy Robison match & the vile anti-Muslim hostility on display. Today, I tried to reassure communities that we will overcome hatred - together - and then we hear about the devastating shooting at the Islamic Centre in San Diego. Once again we witness the horrific consequences of anti-Muslim hate.
I’m angry that some politicians & far right leaders continue to peddle hate against Muslims in the name of our country & protection, when all they are doing is pouring fuel onto a fire pit of anti-Muslim hate.
Just seeing this. An attack on any place of worship is an attack on all of us, but felt more deeply by those of us who know what it is to wonder if we are putting our children in danger by taking them to pray. Not for my child, not for any child.
Devastated by the horrific shooting at a mosque in #SanDiego that has taken three lives.
An attack on a place of worship is an attack on an entire community.Mosques must be places of peace and safety.

Grossly vile and utterly disgusting. We’ve the freedom to criticise religion, but there is a clear difference between criticism and overt racism directed at Muslim women because of the way they choose to dress. Publicly dehumanising Muslim women in this way should be condemned.
Today I visited the Sternberg Centre for Judaism. It was good to see the extraordinary educational, theological and community work taking place there.
But it was impossible to ignore the the distressing truth about Jewish life in Britain today. No parent should have to fear for their child’s safety at school or at worship.
Antisemitism must be opposed without hesitation or qualification. We all share responsibility for challenging hatred wherever we encounter it.
