The client would've kept buying credits & eventually churned. Customer success should be about finding the best solution, even if it's not an immediate win for the company. Happy customers = long-term growth!
As a CSM, there can be a tough line between helping customers & hitting upsell/cross-sell targets. Faced this recently with another CS team & a client with a surge in app installs (tracked by a well-known SaaS platform).
It seemed they prioritised credit sales over solving the problem, likely due to GRR pressure. This experience highlights the pressure to meet upsell/cross-sell quotas can lead to prioritizing short-term revenue over real customer success.
