@geostylegeo Most people are pro a-lot-of-things, and sometimes, those things are contradictory. When two or more things you support bump up against each other, compromise is required.
@BeatTheCult The smartest person in the planet could be a believer if that’s how they were raised, & if they’ve never had the need or desire to question those beliefs.
In the end, I think it’s about finding a worldview that makes you happy, doesn’t hurt anyone, & helps the world a bit. 2/2
@BeatTheCult On average, atheists are likely at about the same level of intelligence as theists.
Belief isn’t about intelligence, it’s about social constructs, social pressures, and an unwillingness to break free of that.

@BeatTheCult Mostly it’s just because they‘ve chosen not to bend their faith to better match facts. Eventually, they’ll give up the fight and act like evolution fit with Christianity all along.
Same thing happened when the world moved on to heliocentricism.
@HackChester@pr0fiteer@TheMFingCOO @BeatTheCult Recognizing the current system is bad is the first step. Striving for change is the second step. Revolutions (even relatively peaceful ones) can’t wait until all the answers are in place. 2/2
@HackChester@pr0fiteer@TheMFingCOO @BeatTheCult When America was a collection of British colonies, many said what you’re saying. “With what do we replace the monarchy? There are no better options!” A government by the people, for the people, didn’t exist until after the revolutionary war. 1/2
@HackChester@pr0fiteer@TheMFingCOO @BeatTheCult So look around you and try to identify groups whose freedoms are getting infringed on a daily basis. Those are the groups who need amendments.
@HackChester@pr0fiteer@TheMFingCOO @BeatTheCult Amendments don’t expand freedom in the same way the constitution doesn’t give you freedom.
We are born free.
The constitution simply recognizes that and spells it out for those who would otherwise infringe upon those freedoms.
@HackChester@pr0fiteer@TheMFingCOO @BeatTheCult It’s like what the British say, “The king is dead. Long love the king.”
The constitution (amended) is the best vehicle to replace the constitution (current).
It’s been done 27 times already.
@ChuckUF08446242@TheMFingCOO @BeatTheCult Currently, the 13th amendment needs amending. It ended traditional slavery but created a new kind of slavery (prison).
I would also like to see women’s rights constitutionally enshrined.
