Hilariously surprised this morning at the National Records of Scotland to see my husband promoting their “Prisoners or Patients” exhibit.

My dad recently uncovered the original plans for the neighbourhood I grew up in (in America). Cromwell Court was the original name of the street I lived but they changed it at some point... to Stuart Court.
My officemate/pub partner/all around top notch pal @A_J_Lind is making his tv premier tomorrow at 9pm by lending his expertises to the discussion of the Scottish Civil War.
Give it a watch - I’m sure you’ll learn something!
I know it's a bit of a silly thing to celebrate given the current global climate but I've been completely self-funded since I started my undergrad in 2012 and for the first time in my life, I have funding, even if it's just for a few months! 🎉
Still time to sign up to receive our taster video for the 2021 conference. The papers are excellent and there's even a bit of Scotland in the form of James IV, James V and good old Mary, Queen of Scots, courtesy of yours truly. Sign up below!

A week today our video presentation on courts and spaces in early modern England and Scotland are being released: short taster-papers for our full panel at the @IMEMSDurham Durham Early Modern Conference 2021! @kfoydusty @rach_porteous@TheRealKimDeal @james_taffe
Consider joining our panel “Courts and Spaces” virtually to see our attempt at using video editing software. Even if it’s not good quality editing, I can assure you the papers are really interesting and it’ll be good fun!
The Durham #EarlyModern Conference is postponed to 6-8 July 2021, but look 👀 what we have organised for this year in its place: https://t.co/WAEUldtBY8 #twitterstorians@durham_uni @PalaceGreenLib #renaissance

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, we have decided to run 'Beyond the Pale and Highland Line' as an online workshop. The deadline for abstracts has also been extended to 28 April! Please DM if you have any questions!
The postgrads and postdocs of @UofGlasgow ‘s No. 9 put together a virtual pub/coffee break WhatsApp chat so we weren’t isolated from one another & I’ve never been more thankful to be a part of Scottish History at UofG than I am these days.

Last week my parents came to visit and b/c of the sometimes crippling anxiety of PhD work, I made them come to work with me so I only had to take 2 days off, rather than a whole week.
(PS, they loved it. Sat in my shared office, chatted w/ my mates & then went to the pub w/ us)
