Deeply touched and humbled by the generous words of my dear friend, Prof. @RohanGunaratna
I recall when we first met and shared the dais in Washington, D.C., deliberating on the complex dynamics of irregular warfare at the Irregular Warfare Center @IrregularWarCtr .
His clarity of thought, strategic foresight, and field-grounded insights were remarkable then and, as always, remain unmatched.
Hailing from Sri Lanka having seen LTTE devastating impact , Prof. Gunaratna is picked the right lessons and is today recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities on counter-terrorism and political violence. He is an acclaimed author of 20+ books, seminal works like Inside Al Qaeda to advising international agencies on counter-terrorism, his contributions to peace and security studies worldwide are unparalleled. Truly honored by his support.
As a foundational pillar of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (@RSIS_NTU ) in Singapore and the founder of the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR), his decades of scholarship have shaped international security architecture across continents.
The endorsement from someone of his stature means the world to me. Beyond the strategic dialogues and shared stages, I truly cherish our enduring friendship and our shared, steadfast commitment to global peace and security.
Thank you, dear Rohan.

What began years ago as a deeply personal dream, carried in my heart alongside the ancient civilizational links of queen heo to memory of my distant relative Colonel Unni Nayar who gave his life in Korea in August 1950, has finally found its fullest expression.
Today, I am profoundly honoured and humbled to share that my @IDSAIndia Strategic Analysis article, “India’s Balancing Act: Neutrality, Diplomacy, and Humanitarian Aid in the Korean War,” has been released this week by @TandFIndia . You can read the article here: https://t.co/97J00Zhb5p
This journey spans miles, memories, and immense institutional goodwill. It was made possible by the rare and prestigious @KoreaFoundation 2025 and my affiliation with @SeoulNatlUni University. Following my field research, I had the extraordinary privilege, encouraged by H. E. Seong Lee Ambassador of the @RokEmbIndia , to curate and present an exhibition on India’s role in the Korean War to H. E. @FMChoHyun@MOFAkr_eng of the Republic of Korea during his visit in April 2026. Standing before senior Indian officials, UN representatives, and international defence attachés to share this history was a moment I will always cherish.
Serving as an International Research Advisor and Goodwill Advisor to @KorWarmemorial has further allowed me to engage deeply with creating an institutional memory. As the Curator of the Korean War Memorial profoundly noted, he will see how this vital history can be shared to showcase India's pivotal role extending far beyond the legendary 60th Parachute Field Ambulance.
This is our collective tribute to the brave soldiers who walked into history to keep the peace. To the Indians who gave their lives, and to towering leaders like General Thimayya and General Thorat who proved that Indians have left a positive impact in the most difficult circumstances where the US faced China in the only ever direct confrontation.
The Indian role was key in mediating the Armistice. South Korea’s vibrant democracy today and the peace that allowed a nation to flourish stands as a testament to an armistice brokered with India’s critical hand when the world was fracturing.
My deepest gratitude goes to the Korea Foundation, the Korean War Memorial, Ambassador Seong Lee, Professor @WongiChoe Choe of KNDA, Prof. Hak Soon Paik, Prof. Shin of Seoul National University, and everyone who transformed a personal dream into a lifelong passion for peace and reconciliation.
This morning had a real-world lesson in economics and leadership. I was picking up a family friend living for decades in Singapore, and as we pulled into a petrol pump, the conversation took an eye-opening turn about life in India.
He watched the meter and mentioned that back in Singapore—and even in Manila—fuel prices have more than doubled, sent soaring by the war in the Gulf. He was expecting for the same story here.
When the attendant calmly confirmed that the price remained unchanged, the look of surprise on my friend's face said it all. While much of the world is reeling from price shocks, India has managed to hold the line, providing a rare and vital stability for its citizens.
Sometimes, it takes the perspective of a traveler to truly appreciate the quiet, steady hand at the helm that keeps our wheels turning without the burden of global volatility.
It’s easy to blame leadership when things go wrong, but silent is the praise when things stay right. Maintaining steady petrol prices under global pressure isn't an accident; it’s an achievement. Perhaps the denial of this success comes from the fact that true stability is often invisible to those who benefit from it most.
Thank you @PMOIndia_RC@narendramodi@PMOIndia@DefenceMinIndia@DrSJaishankar for the work you have done
As the saying goes: "When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."
An enlightening online lecture at @ics_delhi by @allyjung on the topic Gender Issues and Feminism in Economically Advanced South Korea. Very lively discussion afterwards. Amazing insights.
