Lets talk expectations.....

This was a +1% account gain trade in less than an hour this morning using the "ALN Sessions" stat data and some basic price action principles. The US Equity markets average annual return is roughly +10% annually. This is a base hit trade, taking the exit at the high expectancy target. Collecting 2-4 of these a week (as an average) will yield >100% gain on the account in a year when considering compounding.

The goal of day trading should be to beat the markets annual return, plain and simple, otherwise just buy and hold the SP500. But at what point is the return "enough"? Is 2x enough? Is 5x enough? What about 10x?

The SimFarm prop industry has skewed realistic expectations, making new traders believe they need to make thousands of dollars every single day, or else they are horrible traders. But unfortunately, ~90% of traders lose money, so by default, 90% of what you see here on X is a lie. Not because they don't know the technical components of trading, but because they cant control themselves, use proper risk management, and maintain realistic expectations.

The average hedge funds annual return is around the 15%-20% range. If you can 2x the markets return, you are matching some of the top hedge funds out there. Yet people cant accept that as "good performance". 20% a year is +0.35% a week.
