For anyone in the #Cleveland, #Ohio area, the group #art show at Penitentiary Glen #Nature Center in which I'm participating, runs from August 26 until October 15. A portion of all sales goes to benefit Lake Metroparks. The Nature Center is open daily from 9am - 5pm.
TGIF, Cleveland! We couldn't help but share one final incredible photo of Monday's total solar eclipse over The Land 🤩

Missed the totality path by that much🤏 Our location still had great views of a partial eclipse with 99.97% of the sun obscured. While we remained in the light, the shadow of totality can be seen extending to the right of the frame as it passed through northern VT/NH.

SUPER COOL! Did you notice a red dot coming out of the sun during totality? That’s a prominence.
They happen occasionally to often, but are often small. So the chance to have one during an eclipse is not very common, but not super rare.
BUT the chance they are big enough to be seen by the naked eye during an eclipse is. Pretty special!
A prominence is a plasma (hot gas) trapped in a magnetic 🧲 field loop coming out of the sun. 🌞
If you look really close here you can see the features of the moon along with the flares. That was indeed once in a lifetime and simply amazing. #SolarEclipse2024
@earthskyscience that's a fantastic shot! I saw a prominence in the 7 o'clock position in Ohio at about 3:17pm EDT. That was one of my favorite moments.
it took a little less than 7 years to finally see a total eclipse (still mad i couldn't see the one in 2017) but it was well worth the wait. must admit, i got a little emotional seeing the beauty of the sun's corona. i am so grateful to live on this beautiful planet.
Here's a link that talks about the quality of light and how eclipses affect both light and shadows during a total solar eclipse(spoiler alert: wear red, green, or blue during a solar eclipse):

A total solar eclipse crosses Mexico, the US, and a corner of Canada tomorrow.
Here are some handy links for those who will be witnessing the event.
Most importantly, NASA's Eclipse Explorer for precise timing in your viewing area. just plug in your ZIP.
