It sounds like the Georgia Public Service Commissioner (no less) has some serious corrections for the #4Corners claims about his state's power prices, already credulously spread by @Bowenchris, @TristanEdis & others. I'll be tuning in next week. #auspol#NuclearEnergy
Duke Energy footage of Lake Placid Solar Power Plant.
When anti-nuclear activists prematurely retire operating #nuclear power plants, this is what they are accomplishing: destroying clean-energy infrastructure.
Pro-nuclear advocates don't to this to solar.
The San Diego Union Tribune asked 14 economists, professors and economic advisors "Was California too quick to abandon nuclear power?"
The unanimous answer was YES.

@ChristosA89 Thanks but I retired long ago. What I do now is better than a job, it is explaining what we need. Problem is that many do not want to listen.
Reuters columnist Robert Cyran is skeptical about the US's ability to build enough nuclear plants to supply the clean firm power that big data companies want.
He says that getting the costs and schedules under control would be a huge challenge. But his statement uses a comparison that reflects a common misperception:
"The amount of coordination required, however, may be as hard to manage as fission itself."
IMO, it would be TERRIFIC if the coordination was as EASY to manage as fission. That natural reaction works predictably. In a properly designed reactor, fission is controlled with little or no human or control system involvement.
That's the beauty of a negative temperature coefficient of reactivity.
Unfortunately, mega project management isn't anywhere near as easy as fission. It's going to be hard work for the US to develop our ability to deliver the nuclear plants the market wants, but it will be a worthwhile endeavor.

@ChristosA89 All quite easily obtained except plutonium. Uranium dissolves in water and lots in the sea. Thorium is even more plentiful. Very little needed
While reading the DOE's September 2024 update to its Pathways to Commercial Liftoff; Advanced Nuclear I felt the need to stop and share a figure included in the report. It's one of my favorite illustrations for supporting my assertion that nuclear fission produces uniquely valuable electrons and BTUs.
Valuable products generally command a premium price in the market.
@GovNuclear
Its on page 13 of the report.
"The EPA said that for too long Ireland has merely aimed to "get by", aspiring to only minimum environmental standards and that in many instances, those standards are not reached"
It is past time the Irish government considers #NuclearEnergy , the EUs largest clean energy source
New photos show China building America's best nuclear reactor design at record speeds to become #1 in nuclear power.
Here's Lianjiang nuclear plant 12 months after Unit 1 construction start. Only 24 months after first dig.
AP1000s on a 4-year schedule.
We should be doing this.
@energybants No to BASELOAD. Provide for Peakload with nuclear and use offpeak for desalination, hydrogen, heating, indoor agriculture - all the other energy needs. NO to renewables and DISCONTINUE fossil fuels as fast as possible. Rollout nuclear to all nations ensuring adequate education.
I just adding my name to this new campaign from @weplanetint calling for global financial institutions to deliver on their pledge to finance new nuclear energy.
Will you add your name?

Cumulatively, the 14 financial institutions have committed to over $6 trillion in Sustainable Financing by 2030.
Say 10% goes to nuclear, as per nuclear's share of the mix in the IEA's NZE scenario.
Say Nth-of-a-kind Western construction brings costs down to $6 billion per GW of new capacity.
This would equate to the potential to finance the construction of roughly 100 new GW-scale reactors.
Well on track to reach the 3x nuclear pledge.
Bring it on!
Is hope in Australian nuclear re-opening? Or is it just shutting down permanently? Like the anti-prometheans a million years ago that denied the benefits of fire? Or the saboteurs who said the Industrial Revolution was too expensive and destroyed jobs? There is always one society too blind to engage its own best interest!
The world is going nuclear.
Meanwhile, our politicians are kicking the nuclear can down the road, refusing to lift the ban.
It’s time to get serious. We need nuclear in our energy mix.

I’m so tired of “clean” energy providers refusing to accept nuclear. My company’s portfolio is actually WAY CLEANER than most other because of such a large portion of emission free electricity, boosted largely by @DiabloCanyonCA
Everyone *should* want this. Skeptical? Let’s chat!
