@HoffProf yes. jeez man if it works it works. empirical evidence outweighs whatever "vibes" some of you feel. eventually it probably won't work, and that is the thing to be concerned with -- if pangram tries to catch up w workarounds maybe there will be more false positives.
@lukeburgis what is sad about it? he us more aware of the uncertainty and miscommunication that we all experience, and less like individual dunces for experiencing it. In that sense I think there is a lot of grace in his work.
@marincogan i agree. but also i don't understand why holmes would say something like that? if we are pretty sure she is a chronic liar and manipulator we should at least acknowledge that she is incredibly adept and consistent at both tasks, why would she take the cover off like that?
@reason@LastWeekTonight@iamjohnoliver Look, I do not like John Oliver and came in very sympathetic. But when ask why a minimum wage worker would need a two bedroom apartment, you are not attacking the validity of the study. it's a fair point otherwise, but come on.
@Kulambq The jazz giants deserve their place among the great composers (and you do not even mention Monk), but I think it is plausible that we revere our musical canon less than other nations do.
@CHRISF0GLE i don't think this is a sensible binary. i have not read ij. but so much can be "the focus" besides one of these two things, and different potential "focuses" blend into each other such that it is ultimately arbitrary where one ends and the other begins.
@deewalkerbooks the top three are right. morrison will be remembered somewhat. i really doubt atwood tho (having, admittedly, not read any of her novels)
@TheMuppetPastor The right thing to do, unambiguously, was to fight for Lincoln. His decision to do otherwise is unambiguously monstrous. The fact that it would have been difficult for him to do the right thing does not change this moral calculus.
@allie__voss I've known homeschoolers who were wonderful and well adjusted. I've also known homeschoolers who were cliquey, under-schooled, and largely ignorant of what it was like to be a person outside of their small circle of families. but they knew how to fish and change a tire -- amazing
