The IOC has banned not the Ukrainian athlete, but its own reputation. Future generations will recall this as a moment of shame.
He simply wanted to commemorate fellow athletes killed in war. There is nothing wrong with that under any rules or ethics.
The IOC intimidated, disrespected, and even lectured our athlete and other Ukrainians on how they should keep quiet about “one of 130 conflicts in the world”.
The IOC has also systemically failed to confront the greatest abuser of international sports and the Olympic Charter — Russia.
A country that started three invasions during the Olympic Truce in the past three decades, implemented the largest state-funded doping program, killed 650 Ukrainian athletes and coaches, and damaged 800 sports facilities in Ukraine.
These are Russians who must be banned, not the commemoration of their victims. None of them are “neutral”.
If the Olympic Creed says that “the most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part”, then @iocmedia betrayed it completely by preventing @heraskevych from taking part and betrayed 650 Ukrainian athletes and coaches killed by Russia.
We are proud to have Vladyslav who has not betrayed them. Thank you for your principles and bravery.

The IOC has banned the use of my helmet at official training sessions and competitions 💔
A decision that simply breaks my heart. The feeling that the IOC is betraying those athletes who were part of the Olympic movement, not allowing them to be honored on the sports arena where these athletes will never be able to step again.
Despite precedents in modern times and in the past when the IOC allowed such tributes, this time they decided to set special rules just for Ukraine.
We are preparing an official request to the IOC and will fight for the right to compete in this exact helmet.
Europeans are funny people. Trump or no Trump, they still don’t understand the basic fact in front of them.
The Russia–Ukraine war is not a passing storm. It is the central security event of this century for Europe. Whatever happens next – ceasefire, negotiations, escalation, frozen conflict – the consequences will dominate European politics and security for generations.
Yet much of Europe behaves as if this is an inconvenience they can manage from a distance. It’s the classic ostrich strategy: keep your head in the sand, avoid uncomfortable decisions, hope someone else fixes the problem. That may feel safer in the short term. In the long term it is a guarantee of worse outcomes.
If Europe doesn’t step into this war seriously now, it simply loses control over the future. The worst-case scenario is obvious – direct military threat to EU countries themselves. But there are many softer bad scenarios: permanent instability on Europe’s borders, weakened NATO credibility, unbalanced militarized economies, energy insecurity, and a continent that lives in a state of constant tension.
None of that disappears because European leaders prefer not to think about it. What many fail to grasp is the scale of the rupture. This war is historic collision between two systems. No signature on a document will suddenly reset that reality. The sooner Europeans stop treating the war as something happening “over there” and start acting as if their own future depends on the outcome – the better that future will be.
February brings wild flashbacks. Of once having a normal life, with dreams, a job, plans, with happiness and carelessness… and of those first days when it all crashed, when the endless Groundhog Day of bombings, survival, sorrow, pain, and fear began.
I hate Russia. And more than anything, I want my life back. I want this for all of us who are still here.
Well it's Groundhog Day, AGAIN...
Apparently Trump is back to claiming that Putin wants to make a peace deal and Zelenskyy doesn't. I'm guessing there was a recent phone call.
Something tells me Trump's going to start pressuring Ukraine to give up Donbas again...🙄
