The CEO-to-worker pay gap is now 351-to-1. In 1965, the ratio was 21-to-1. Trickle down economics is nothing more than a cruel hoax designed to enrich bankers and wealthy executives.
In 2007, when Gordon Brown replaced Tony Blair, the Conservatives called for a snap general election.
Boris Johnson wrote a piece in the Telegraph describing the change as a "palace coup" and a "North Korean" move that "trampled on the democratic will of the British people."
Nurses’ pay must rise with inflation. That is the bare minimum.
Applause on our doorsteps rings hollow without solidarity on the picket line.
If nurses go on strike, they will have my full support.
What is so striking is how many conservative mps are still talking about what is “ best for the party”. It’s a real give away - that party still seemingly comes before country and constituents and democracy.
Dear @trussliz
You said today “I grew up in the 1980s, which were characterised by boarded up shops, people with no hope turning to drugs, families struggling to put food on the table. And that's why we need to get back to Thatcherism”
Margaret Thatcher was PM from 1979 to 1990.
@AyoCaesar I’ve been there once, think it was to see Explosions in the sky, the pub has burned its excellence into my mind, don’t remember the gig but remember the pub 😂
When Liz Truss rejects a windfall tax on the £170,000,000,000 profits oil and gas giants are expected to make, it's worth remembering:
She's a former Shell employee whose party has taken more than £1,500,000 in donations from the oil and gas industry since the last election.
Dear @trussliz / @RishiSunak the cost of living crisis has left millions worried how they'll make ends meet.
I'd like to formally invite you, as the new PM, to join me asap once you take office for a special hour's @itvMLshow discussion/Q&A to answer/ease people's concerns.
Beyond brilliant. These ludicrous discussions & pretty much all political panels dance around the fact that we’re governed by dissembling imbeciles propelled to power by the epic lies of Brexit. Presenters like @bbclaurak are complicit. @joelycett just found the antidote. Genius.
This morning's thread is about HMP Woodhill, a high security prison based near Milton Keynes. You may well find this distressing. I find it extremely distressing.
@ChrisGPackham@BBCOne@DeborahMeaden Corbyn and his supporters nearly catalysed massive change but a concerted smear campaign and people blindly believing it put paid to that, doubt we’ll see another chance in our lifetimes.
“Price rises are caused by profit. The big shots in this economy, who live on dividends and shareholdings, are raking it in. We’ve never had more billionaires, the super-rich have never been richer.”
