One Government Approach at its best.
Today, I held a strategic meeting with the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Mrs. Hadiza Bala Usman, and the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, SAN, to advance the implementation of the National Research and Innovation Development Fund (NRIDF), recently approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
Our discussions focused on the Executive Bill that will establish the legal and governance framework for the Fund, ensuring its effective operationalisation as a sustainable national platform for financing research, innovation and the commercialisation of ideas.
Nigeria stands at a defining moment in its journey towards academic, scientific and technological excellence. The NRIDF will strengthen research institutions, accelerate homegrown innovation, deepen collaboration between academia and industry, and support the development of solutions that drive economic growth, create high value jobs and improve the lives of Nigerians. It is a key step in transforming Nigeria from a resource based economy into a knowledge based economy, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR's vision of building a $1 trillion economy.
This Fund is far greater than any one institution or individual. It is an investment in Nigeria's future and a lasting legacy that will empower generations of researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs to solve our nation's greatest challenges, unlock new opportunities and position Nigeria as a global leader in research and innovation.
I extend my sincere appreciation to my sister, Mrs. Hadiza Bala Usman, and my friend, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, SAN, for their partnership and unwavering commitment to this important national endeavour. Together, through collaboration and a shared vision, we are laying the foundation for a more innovative, prosperous and globally competitive Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Throughout June 2026, the Federal Ministry of Education advanced digital transformation, learning assessment, teacher development, university and basic education reforms, staff welfare, education data systems, institutional accountability, examination modernisation, technical education, policy implementation, and quality assurance while combating misinformation across Nigeria.
Climate change is not a distant conversation for rural farmers; it is a daily reality.
Over the past week, the DEAN team conducted baseline assessments across four wards in Gwagwalada Area Council, engaging 110 farmers, more than 90 of whom were women, to understand how rising temperatures and extreme heat are affecting yam production and livelihoods.
Beyond implementing heat-resilient storage solutions, our goal is simple: to bring climate action closer to the people whose lives and incomes depend on the land.
By listening to farmers, documenting their experiences, and identifying the support they truly need, we are ensuring that community voices shape practical and sustainable solutions.
At DEAN, we believe that meaningful climate action starts at the grassroots, because the people experiencing the impacts every day should also be at the center of the response.

FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION
PRESS RELEASE
9 April 2026
FG LAUNCHES FIRST-EVER NATIONWIDE LEARNER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER TO TRANSFORM EDUCATION SYSTEM
The Federal Government has launched the nationwide Learner Identification Number (LIN), a digital system assigning every student a permanent academic identity to support learning continuity, improve planning, and enable timely interventions.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, described the initiative as a transformational milestone aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, focused on human capital development and technology-driven reforms.
In the first phase, over 1.9 million candidates for the 2026 examinations conducted by West African Examinations Council and National Examinations Council have been issued LINs, strengthening education data management and examination integrity.
The LIN enables seamless tracking of academic progression across all levels and is integrated with the Digitized National Education Management Information System (DNEMIS), which provides a national register of schools.
By linking learners to verified identities, the system enhances examination security, reduces impersonation, and supports tracking of out-of-school children, dropouts, and learning gaps.
The Ministry will expand the system nationwide across public and private schools and calls on stakeholders to support full implementation.
The Federal Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to building a transparent, inclusive, and data-driven education system.
