I wrote abt the Ayatollah before we went to press last night. Before it was certain hed been martyred:
"If Khamenei were to be killed, the impact would be historic -- the most consequential decapitation of Iranian leadership since the 1979 revolution" https://t.co/Z0zRGJ9Q5M
For heavens sake, are we going to normalise sacking and burning of consulates on Pakistani soil in the name of justifiable anger? Have you all lost your minds??
Are you, quite literally, asking people to burn consulates and consular staff inside? And to achieve what exactly?
🚨 After the assassination of Ali Khamenei, even Iranians did not attack any consulates, embassies and UN offices in Iran.
But I have no idea what these gangs in Pakistan are thinking. Utterly shameful, disgraceful, obnoxious visuals are coming in from Karachi and Skardu.
On Pakistan, war, terror. An honest thread no one will like. (Oh well...also super long w/apologies):
1. War should never be a choice or a first option or something to cheer from drawing rooms or Twitter timelines. And yet here we are:
8. Pakistan has signalled in recent years that it wants to move on -- economically, diplomatically, politically. But you can hardly attract investment while suicide bombers run around in your cities.
Quite ironic for Bilawal Bhutto to have aided the murder of democracy and justice when his ancestors were the ones who brought about its onset in the country. He undone his own family's legacy.
Panhwar J using "your faithful colleague" is just not sitting well. If you're demanding a robust action - at least have the courage to stand tall. Faithful colleague does not imply fight - it reinforces subduing to his authority- which now only remains in name. Sad.
🚨🚨#BREAKING: Another #SupremeCourt judge speaks out against #27thAmendment in a letter to Chief justice, #JusticeSalahuddinPanhwar in an explosive letter urges Chief Justice #YahyaAfridi “Judicial independence, my Lord, is not a matter of privilege. It is the very condition upon which liberty itself depends. If the judiciary is not free; free from fear, free from influence, free from control, then the rule of law becomes but a phrase, hollow and without breath.
Our Constitution, in its wisdom, has declared this independence through Articles 175, 175A, 189, 190, 191, and 209, and sealed it by the solemn oath in the Third Schedule. These are not ornamental words.
They are the living guarantees of a people who have suffered too long under arbitrary power.
From what has been foreshadowed, this amendment may unsettle the careful balance that the framers intended. It may touch upon the security of tenure, the composition of benches, the appointment and removal of judges, or even the financial and administrative autonomy of our courts.
Each of these is a pillar; weaken one, and the structure trembles. Allow encroachment today in the name of efficiency, and tomorrow independence will be lost in the name of expedience.
Even the appearance of interference is enough to erode public confidence and "confidence", my Lord, is the very soul of justice. Once lost, it cannot be summoned by decree or proclamation. It is for this reason that I most respectfully propose the convening of a Full Court meeting, so that we may speak together as one body, deliberate in calm and reason, and discharge our solemn duty to the onstitution.”
4. Was talking to a senior today who said, "I just want ke itni barish ho ke ek baar inka infrastructure beth hi jaye because itna paisa khaya hai kujh aye bhi nazar ke kitna khaya hai". And trust me, infrastructure beth raha hai. (3/3)

Got stuck in Karachi's rain-induced traffic. Key takeaways:
1. Smaller cars (Alto, mehran, cultus, older models of Corolla, Civic etc.,) driving within traffic rules versus the prados, v8s and newer cars breaking all traffic rules which worsened the situation. Wonder y? (1/n)
2. Bike owners have jigra that is incomparable.
3. trucks, bowser and whatever other car that has hydraulic break needs to be banned in the city during day time. Accidents. More accidents. Probable accidents. (2/n)
