This is why I’m long $TE T1 Energy and why I’m holding through the volatility/drawdown.
The bear thesis is simple: G2 financing + execution risk.
But that bear thesis only has a couple quarters left to prove itself.
Every quarter G2 gets closer to completion, equipment lands, construction advances and offtakes stack up, that risk shrinks.
If G2 gets funded and comes online, the market has to start valuing T1 Energy very differently.
Why?
The U.S. doesn’t have a shortage of module assembly. It has a shortage of high-domestic-content solar supply.
The scaled competition is limited:
Qcells. First Solar. T1 Energy.
T1 Energy already has:
5 GW G1 module capacity
2.1 GW G2 Phase 1 cell capacity
900 MW Treaty Oak
641 MW Clearway
>60% domestic-content target in 2027
A few more large offtakes and G1 can get very close to fully spoken for.
Meanwhile, import-heavy and China-linked supply chains are dealing with:
FEOC + tariffs + Section 232 + customs + traceability risk.
That should make scarce domestic supply increasingly valuable.
Execution absolutely matters. G2 still has to get financed, completed and ramped.
But that’s exactly why I think this is the accumulation window.
The closer T1 Energy gets to G2 completion without the thesis breaking, the more the bear case gets squeezed and the closer we get to a potential rerating.
I’m not betting on where $TE trades next week. I’m betting on what T1 Energy looks like once G2 is online.
BTW I run a $TE holder group chat where we track filings, G2 financing, offtakes, policy, and material updates. If you'd like to join, link is below.

$TE has one major confirmed recent contract: a 641 MW module offtake with Clearway, supporting its G2_Austin expansion. Management has indicated it is pursuing additional G2 contracts, with disclosed customer interest exceeding expected 2027–28 capacity. A further 500 MW–1+ GW agreement could be a significant catalyst for TE. Not signed yet but certainly a question of ‘what if’

Here is the list of top institutional holders for T1 Energy from Q2 13F filings. Most institutions increased their holdings. However, as a lagging indicator, it's unclear whether this reflects active intent or mechanical passive buying. Treat this as a secondary indicator.
