@Caroline_44731@mtracey The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox on Netflix. She's someone who truly didn't do anything wrong, and talking to police got her charged w/ murder.
Do the people defending the Cornell 7 *really* think it should be legal to give a 20-year-old a powerful sedative (known for inducing a trance-like state) and then tell your friends -- strangers to her -- that they should pull up for "free p**sy"? "Like you can walk in and whip it out." That's what Ingalls and Newell allegedly did. And guys did show up.
@BradWilcoxIFS@unfragilekids@FamStudies It's not just the men who "took advantage" -- it's everyone in the Snapchat group chat who was talking about women in ways that were totally dehumanizing & disrespectful.
@StoicSidFacts@bendreyfuss He was trying to cover his ass. His "investigation" was based on reading a six-page document, but he didn't bother looking at any of the other interviews or evidence that Cornell had compiled.
@h1pp0853172@LeaveHeardAlone@nieshatrout Nooo. There was no investigation at all in 1000 of those cases. (Which includes a range of sexual/dating "misconduct," not just sexual assault). Many of those cased come from secondhand sources or mandatory reporters and a complaint is never filed.
@DerekHowell13@JoyceCarolOates Her statement doesn't indicate she consented to 3rd threesome. She said she didn't remember how it started - so that's nebulous. She apparently also was more forceful in describing the later half of encounter as coercive in her interview with police than her statement reflects.
@RealSatanTheSir@Pinchelaverga@mtracey one of the men even says he was a victim of "sexual misconduct" as the woman gave him oral sex when he was too incapacitated to consent.
That's no help at all, unless it offers guidance elsewhere as to how to judge whether someone is so affected by alcohol that they can't consent. Obv even just a few drinks lowers soneone's inhibitions and can result in them making different choices than they would when stone-cold sober.
I take that back. Male #1 did apologize to her for being too drunk to stop the situation and kick out the other guys, but he was actually (allegedly) among those who encouraged the other men to appear via gross messages on Snapchat. He didn't write the "free p****" post but he wrote, "like you can walk in and whip it out".
@itsg3l@lxxndria@BridgetAyers "raping" is @lxxndria's word, not his. But he did say something along those lines. Not sure why she thinks it was a lie -- Male 1 was clearly very very intoxicated, to the point of passing out during their threesome.
@ClaudiaBoleyn Ehh. Modern drunk-driving laws are very strict. After three beers I am still in control of my facilities, not not slurring my words or stumbling, still making good decisions. But legally i shouldn't drive.
Only about 5% of rape allegations are officially classified as false by police. But only about a third of allegations result in an arrest. In over half of all allegations, there's no official determination whether thwy are true or false. So hard to know what the actual rate of false allegations are.
@wil_da_beast630 If you read the story, Cornell received more than "1,200 incidents of sexual assault, dating and domestic violence and stalking" during that period. Not 1,200 sexual assault allegations. @amydiehl might want to correct her tweet.
