systemd-networkd remains unserious software, despite years of reports and pleas to the maintainers, they still react to a slow kernel interface by permanently de-configuring network interfaces taking nodes offline.
@10_X_eng@ghnynex@plankers What approximate kernel version was this? Just looking for a vintage. I have heard the recovery code is still a bit rough, but very few stable runtime issues in recent years.
@valigo@Jack70593213 Linux has no normalized mount topology, which is a doubled edged issue, for one thing it avoids having ambient/implicit multiple addressing. On the other hand there is no canonical addressing and figuring out what kind of mess you’re in under a mount / link topology can be worse
@valigo@xadh UNC paths aren’t limited to a disk or even a single machine. They chose this addressing scheme because it covers much broader, it’s essentially an URL but without including a protocol or being tied to dns.
@neogoose_btw@NyxXeres I chased shanselman and the vp over the team. vp told me a sad story about how the team is small and it’s too hard to get updates to windows builds validated.
it’s too hard for Microsoft to own this kind of software, period.
They can’t do it. It’s not rhetoric. They agree.
@NyxXeres@neogoose_btw They shipped openssh in windows. It has a classic ssh porting bug where it doesn’t drain channels properly on connection shutdown. This causes about 50% of git clones to fail on windows. They’ve had a fix in their source tree for 3 years. They’ve failed to ship the fix.
Hey are there any EV code signing peeps that can help me out?
We're signing a exe for a security tool we're getting ready to push hard.
BUT!! Smartscreen still blocks the run!
What gives?
I'm at a loss. TIA.
@sqs Tokens are cheap.
It’s my time that’s valuable.
That’s why I want to use them for the right things.
A lot of the industry seems to have this upside down.
