Tonight I took the car and drove across all of Kyiv, just to see how my beloved city feels at this time.

It’s a strange feeling.

On the surface, you see the same utterly ordinary life that’s been here for almost all the ten years I’ve been wandering these streets. Streams of cars stuck in traffic on the immense Beresteiskyi Avenue, streetlights, neon signs, shops, advertisements, traffic lights flashing, pedestrians. Somewhere behind the lit-up windows, three or four million lives rush past you.

Supermarkets are full of people picking up groceries on their way home from work. As usual, people sit outside the cafes, wrapped in blankets. The McDonald’s restaurants, glowing yellow, are full of people eating burgers -- as always, until the sirens start wailing again.

Nearby, hipsters sip “Drunken Cherry” at tables and on the marble parapet over the underpass. The favorite little "Pita" with its awesome Middle Eastern food is open as usual.

In short, it’s an utterly ordinary, chilly September weeknight in a big, vibrant metropolis. I swear, if you got in a car too and drove around this city without knowing you were in Kyiv, you’d never guess that a brutal, catastrophic war was being fought over it, right here and now.

And amid all this, every couple of hours, somewhere in this vast city, death comes crashing down. Here, then there. An impact, columns of smoke, fires, videos on social media. A supermarket, a warehouse, a shop, a parking lot, a shopping mall, ambulances and fire trucks. Then somewhere else. And again.

And tonight, sometime in the night, another apartment block will be brought crashing down to a terrible roar, and several more families will die beneath the rubble of their homes -- because one power-drunk, aging dictator has gone mad with impunity and the intoxicating taste of blood.

That’s how this city lives, waiting for the heroically fighting army to hold out and save the world.

After winning her first-round match at the WTA 500 in Singapore, Ukrainian tennis player Oleksandra Oliynykova addressed her fans to draw attention to the critical situation in Oleshky.

This is a Ukrainian city in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region. Right now, it's facing a humanitarian catastrophe. Oleshky is cut off from the world, russian forces are blocking deliveries of food and medicine, roads are mined, and evacuation is impossible. Around 2,000 civilians are trapped there, starving and unable to receive help.

Thank you, Oleksandra, for using your voice on the international stage to speak for those persecuted by russia's occupation.

Hello everyone. Today I’m starting another fundraiser to get engineering equipment to Ukraine, and I’m asking for your help by sharing, donating, and liking this post. Even if you can’t donate, sharing it genuinely makes a difference.

A good friend of mine from the 21st Mechanized Brigade of the UAF has been working on improving the survivability and effectiveness of the 🇸🇪 CV90 IFVs and, most importantly, the soldiers inside them.

He recently reached out to me asking for help getting engineering equipment for his brigade.

This is one of those things that doesn’t look as dramatic as drones, armored vehicles, or weapons, but it directly saves lives.

A properly dug fighting position, trench, vehicle shelter, or reinforced position can be the difference between soldiers surviving an artillery or drone attack and not coming home.

Unfortunately, because of bureaucracy and often simple neglect by higher command, excavation equipment remains critically overlooked. It is one of the most obvious low-hanging fruits on the battlefield: relatively inexpensive machinery that can save soldiers’ lives and protect multimillion-dollar equipment.

The brigade already has several excavators, but they are in critically bad condition. We are already working on getting those repaired. But even if every one of them were operational, it still wouldn’t be enough for the brigade’s needs.

Their full request is for 3 excavators, transportation for them, a crane, and pickup trucks.

The total cost would be around $240,000.

I wish I could say we can raise all of it, but with the current level of donations, I don’t think that is realistic.

So we scaled the fundraiser down to $100,000.

That will allow us to purchase 3 excavators and a truck capable of transporting them.

It is still a huge amount of money. But these machines will not sit somewhere in storage. They will be working every day, digging positions, protecting vehicles, and giving Ukrainian soldiers a better chance of surviving.

And that is why I’m asking for your help.
