@minakimes@49ers_Access I'm a Niners fan it was no coincidence that the Niners offense picked up once Surtain was out. If Purdy beats the Seahawks this week I definitely think he should be the MVP favorite so this will be the real test
@timkawakami Possible then that the Niners first rounder has value to a QB needy team with a premium DT/DE that needs to trade up to land their QB of choice? Off the top of my head hard to identify candidates but we may know as the season progresses
@timkawakami Totally fair. The Carson Palmer Raiders trade and Sam Bradford trades support that argument as well. Both of those teams (NYG, WAS) seem to have long term, albeit injury prone QBs. Arizona would make sense but they should be able to draft a 2027 QB
@timkawakami Possible the Niners trade Mac to one of the QB needy teams (NYG, WAS) and repurpose that pick (+ more) for a marquee DT/DE. I assume they’d need at least a 2 from the Mac trade to make it worthwhile (give his value to them + future comp pick).
@timkawakami The 2026 class looks solid but you’re right, 2025 is not looking promising. Williams felt like a high floor guy but you want more pass rush from a guy with the 11th pick. The DLine and pass rush (which they’ve invested in) looks like a weakness.
@timkawakami Big win for Bay Area sports. The Sharks are really fun and while getting Celebrini during a rebuild was lucky, they’ve managed assets well so far and not rushed the rebuild.
@timkawakami Super hard and none of the picks were reaches at the time. The only question was if Wiseman and Kuminga were system fits. Nailing picks (or trading them for value) though is necessary to contend. And GSW nailed Klay, Draymond etc.
@timkawakami Blowing the picks also means not packaging them for a trade and holding too long to Wiseman and Kuminga. Agree tho that alone isn’t the issue.
@timkawakami It’s because for a front office that claims they are championship caliber, they bungled 3 lottery picks relative to that standard (either by not trading the picks or taking the wrong players)
@timkawakami This one still stings because they made the trade so early and probably could have jumped to 6 (like Miami did) by giving up less draft capital. Funny that the Dubs took Wiseman and the 49ers Lance in the same year (two athletic, raw players that clearly didn’t fit their schemes
@timkawakami So next question is then if they can land LeBron without AD? Doing it that way means they don’t have to trade any future assets and keep the books clean.
@timkawakami Because of the Ravens draft positioning , it would cost the Niners more than 2 first rounders (prolly an extra second and more) to beat the Ravens offer.
