Having written a First Information Report that blamed #Bangladesh opposition parties for the death of the student Abu Sayeed in Rangpur, when videos showed extremely clearly that he was killed by police shooting (see tweet below), I did not think it was possible for the Bangladesh police and authorities to be any more delinquent and nefarious in this investigation. But they somehow managed it. They actually arrested a 16 year old school boy and detained him for 9 days in relation to this case, apparently accusing him of involvement in the killing. It defies belief. He thankfully got bail today.

This is simply not a system that can get anywhere close to conducting a fair or independent investigation into these killings. It is totally biased and partisan.

৩১শে জুলাই ২০২৪, দুপুরে হঠাৎ করেই নগরীর শিববাড়ি এলাকায় পুলিশ সদস্যদের কার্যক্রম দেখতে হাজির হন পুলিশ কমিশনার মোজাম্মেল, সেখানে পৌঁছে উপস্থিত পুলিশ সদস্যদের বলেন 'ছাত্র মতো এরা ১০০ ছেলে এসে ঝামেলা করতেছে.........বাংলাদেশে আর কোথাও নাই, মাত্র ১০০ ছেলে! এটা কোন কথা হলো নাকি (পাশ থেকে একজন বলেন প্রথমে এসেছিলো ২০-২৫জন), শুনে তিনি প্রশ্ন করেন প্রথম থেকেই যারা ছিলো কেন প্রথমেই ওই ২০-২৫ জনকে গাড়িতে তুলে নিয়ে গেলোনা।
