Years ago, Drop did a special run of the Holy Pandas with an all-POM housing. ScissoR_LiZarD from r/MechanicalKeyboard bought and set them on fire to prove they weren’t 100% POM and Drop’s co-founder was forced to make a statement.
when i was on a menswear forum, a n00b claimed his shoes were handwelted, so an older forum member bought a pair of the shoes for $400, ripped them apart, and proved they were not handwelted, thus triggering a series of events that brought down a shoe factory in italy
@jrozner Just been eyeing it, but have hesitations, like the lack of key switch choices. Still moving between an original Advantage, Ergodox, and Apple keyboard. I think I really just need to get around to building a wireless Corne or similar. What’s the 76 key you’re desoldering?
Spending some time going through the excellent @fastdotai course. Still on Chapter 1, but managed to fine tune a model to detect songs produced by Jack Antonoff!
@_KyleStarr I feel like I’m the only person in the world that played it and bounced. I *want* to like it (Marvel! Made in OC! Quick matches for busy parents!), but just can’t get into it.
It’s pretty simple: Google Meet (original) was previously Meet, which was the rebranded Hangouts Meet. Meet has been merged with Google Duo, which replaced Google Hangouts. Google Duo has been renamed Meet, and Meet has been temporarily named Google Meet (original), for clarity
Mundane Halloween is back!
Japan does Halloween better than anyone, but best of all is the annual "mundane Halloween" contest sponsored by website @dailyportalz.
The point is to dress up as something super ordinary.
Here are some of my favorites from this year...
@gwcoffey Grim subject matter warning: they’re documentaries around mass killings that took place in Indonesia. Powerful and important to watch, because the message extends beyond SE Asia, but truly haunting.
I’ve finally finished creating my Super World in Mario Maker 2 and have unofficially named it Super Mario Bros 5. I’ve been working towards this moment since 2015, trying to create a classic Mario game that plays as if Nintendo created it themselves.
The new project I designed arrives today - the Dynamic Island.
Its goal is to feel like a living, elastic bubble that can fluidly shape shift into different alerts and experiences.
This is just the start, but I’m excited to see it begin its life!
@danluu As impressive as this is, the absolutely most bonkers takeaway is that you managed to get *10 weeks* of *uninterrupted* time to work on it. How did you get buy-in for this? (Especially considering that people wrote it off as a multi-year project.)
@gwcoffey @_KyleStarr Unfortunately, if your hands are large, the regular Switch likely won’t be comfortable either. Give it a try without one for some time first, but you’ll probably need to get a “grip” of some sort to play handheld comfortably.
