Mālik Ibn Dinaar رحمه الله said:

Study the Qur'an, Ahadith, Sahaba, and the works of classical ulama. More than half of the bogus in your mind would be cleared. At the least, don't speak or criticize those topics or people without proper knowledge.
You will never be at peace if you do not submit yourself to Allah. Nothing is in your hands except hard work, and that too if He allows it. Make it a habit to say Alhamdulillah, especially when you do not get what you desired, for that was the best for you.
Alhamdulillah for a better understanding of things generally. Over the years I have realised that not everyone has this capability. It is a blessing. However, you need to be aware that your accountability will be equally challenging.
Imagine how unfortunate and sad it is that you'd read everything other than the Qur'an. The words of Al-Aleem, the omniscient. The creator of everything, Al-Khaaliq, sent down his words. Do you think it's you who chooses not to read it? It is He who doesn't allow you to. Ponder.
