@AboutaDirk@suchnerve Unless meatbag is describing the contents of the bag, and not the material the bag is made of... ie; a Potato sack is a sack full of potatoes, not a sack made of potatoes 🤷♂️
Popped into @ReadingsBooks in Chadstone to see the champion and all around great bloke @IslingtonJames on Saturday! Was more than happy to have a bit of a chat and answer some questions!! Great experience 👌🏻📚
@binarydances@princeofprints My issue isn't as much with the critique itself, but the way it's presented. "I don't like this, so show bad!!" kind of narrative. It's pretty childish if you ask me. Not liking the show does not make it a bad show.
@princeofprints It's fascinating to me how feeds can differ so much. I've seen SO MUCH praise for the show, especially with season 3. There will always be haters, and some criticism is fair pre-season 3. But this season has undoubtedly catapulted this show to peak fantasy TV. Objectively.
@TheUnic74430705 GoT was a great political drama set in medieval times (w/ dragons & zombies). WoT is pure high fantasy. Depends on your tastes I guess, but I'm FIRMLY in the Wot>GoT camp, especially after season 3.
@AnomanderR40497 It sounds like a very deliberate choice to focus on one thing per character, per season. Mat: Memories w/o Luck. Perrin: Leadership w/o Wolves. We very likely get Perrin's wolf stuff and Mat's luck stuff in S4 (if/when S4 happen)
@blaugranaana I think there's a lot more to come there. Alanna probably takes the Sheriam role for the Salidar/Rebel AS - and probably uses the Two Rivers as the base instead of Salidar perhaps?
@BBHomeless At a character level - She's not taking kids back to a warzone. She left the tower in tatters after the BA reveal, entirely plausible she believes it's not safe.
At a plot level - I think they'll end up making the Two Rivers Salidar to save budget. They already have the set🤷♂️
@JoeAmerica77@sarahenakamura@TheWheelOfTime Not liking the show ≠ bad show.
A concept so many of you just don't seem to understand. 8.2-9.5 ratings across the board this season tend to disagree with you. ✌️
@SwordBreakerJ @ArynLance91 @writer5230 ... In this specific instance, healing is handled the way it is in the books because there are literally HUNDREDS of Aes Sedai, so talent gaps are more apparent. In the show they number in the tens (that we have seen) so talent gaps are harder to represent = may as well cut 🤷♂️
@SwordBreakerJ @ArynLance91 @writer5230 ... The setup and payoff in book and screen work differently. You don't have the same freedom to lay groundwork, explain intricacies and nuance, and delve into character motivations and emotional beats. All of these things factor into book-screen adaptations.
@SwordBreakerJ @ArynLance91 @writer5230 Yes, all of the things you're suggesting could, and probably would, work. But every one of them is LESS impactful than what's on screen. And the only reason we're having this conversation is because you disagree with the current handling purely on book logic; Healing is hard.
@SwordBreakerJ @ArynLance91 @writer5230 Alanna doesn't teach in this scenario - she borrows power. Maksim doesn't connect with the people for saving the only thing he has left - it was Alanna doing all the work. What you're suggesting is FAR weaker TV, like I said, to satisfy your book logic.
@SwordBreakerJ @ArynLance91 @writer5230 Except they're not established as having great potential. They're just conduits. I'm sure you remember the other 3 channelers in the linking of the S1 finale? Of course not. What you're doing is taking away from a great TV scene to justify book logic...
