Doctrine has always divided. Jesus divided. Paul divided. The Reformers risked their lives for it. The early church fought heresy, not embraced it. If your church avoids doctrine to be "relevant," it’s not a church—it’s a social club.

Both conservatives & progressives view Scripture, tradition, & experience as authoritative. The substantive difference is in the order of priority. Conservatives judge experience (& tradition) thru the ultimate norm of Scripture while progressives judge Scripture by experience.
