ಬೆಳದಿಂಗಳ ಜೋಗುಳದ ಹಾಡಿಗೆ
ಹಗಲು ಹೊದ್ದು ಮಲಗಿದೆ.
ಬೆಳಕಿನ ಅನುಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ,
ಚುಕ್ಕಿಗಳು ಕದ್ದುಮುಚ್ಚಿ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದಿರಲು,
ಮೆಲ್ಲ ಬೀಸುವ ಗಾಳಿಗೆ ಮನಸೋತು
ಕತ್ತಲಿನ ಸಾಂಗತ್ಯ ಬಯಸಿದ ಆತ್ಮೀಯನೇ - ನೀನ್ಯಾರು ?

ಬಯಸಿದವರೆಲ್ಲ ಭಿಕ್ಷುಕರೇ, ಕೆಲವರಷ್ಟೇ ತಟ್ಟೆ ಹಿಡಿದು ತಿರುಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ಸಿಂಗಾರಗೊಂಡಿರುವ ಆಕಾಶಕ್ಕೆ, ಆ ದೇವರು ಇಟ್ಟ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಬೊಟ್ಟು.

ಬರೆದ ಕವಿತೆಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ಅಮ್ಮನಾದರೆ
ಬರೆಯದ ಕಥೆಗಳೆಲ್ಲ 'ಅಪ್ಪ' ಆಗಿದ್ದವು

ಬಹಳ ದಿನಗಳ ನಂತರ
ಮಳೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಪತ್ರ ರವಾನಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ ಮೋಡ, ಗುಪ್ತವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಲು.
ಚಂದ್ರ ಚಾಡಿ ಹೇಳಲು ಹೋಗಿರುವನು.

ಇವರ ಕಣ್ಣಾಮುಚ್ಚಾಲೆ ಆಟದಲ್ಲಿ
ನಾನು, ನನ್ನ ಅರ್ಧ ಲೋಟ ಕಾಫಿ,
ಬಿಟ್ಟಿ ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರು.

ಮಾತುಗಳು ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾದಾಗ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳು ಅರ್ಥವಾಗುತ್ತವೆ.
ಅನವಶ್ಯಕ ಬಿಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳಚಿ ಕಲ್ಲು ಶಿಲ್ಪವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
ತನ್ನ ಒಡಲ ವ್ಯಾಮೋಹ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ನದಿ ಸಮುದ್ರ ಸೇರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಎಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳಚಿದಾಗಲೇ ಮರಕ್ಕೆ ನವ ಜೀವನದ ಆರಂಭ.
ಅಹಂಕಾರವನ್ನು ತೊರೆದ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಬೆಳಕು ಆಗುತ್ತೆ.
ಬೇಡವಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸುವ ನರ, ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಆಗ್ತಾನೆ.

The people who start the wars don’t fight them, the people who spend the taxes don’t pay them, and the people who forgive the criminals don’t live next to them.

Of course we’re going to have too many wars, too much spending, and too much crime.
