Public sector bank employees in India are overburdened, managing up to 2,500 customers each, while private banks maintain a ratio of around 400-500 per employee.

PSBs have lost over 100,000 staff since FY17, and with 41,177 vacant positions, the gap keeps widening. Despite handling higher business volumes per employee (₹21.99 Cr vs. ₹16.20 Cr in private banks), recruitment has slowed significantly.

Without adequate hiring, service quality, efficiency, and employee well-being are at risk. It’s time for urgent recruitment to support banking operations and public services.
