All We Imagine As Light, Homebound, All That Breathes, Ikkis, Nocturnes, Main Vaapas Aaunga, Tumbbad, Sairat, Asuran, The Great Indian Kitchen, Sabar Bonda... so many more. (Not even getting into streaming and web series in this brief post!)
It feels incredibly uplifting to know that India has brilliant film-makers — and audiences who love their work. Give it time. The other country is still there, still breathing.

In an Indian cricket match first the crowd would beat him up. Then the police would file an FIR against him. And the CM of the state would call him a foreign agent anti national and order an inquiry. Media would call it master stroke.
It seems Americans do not understand what a tip is.
A tip is a small amount of extra money voluntarily given to someone, such as to a waiter, bartender, or taxi driver to show appreciation for a service well performed.
It is not meant to replace the salary that person is paid for doing their job.
How is that difficult to understand?
All-India rainfall deficiency now stands at -43% as of 27 June
During previous El Niño years, June 2014 ended with a -44% rainfall deficit, while June 2009 finished at -47% below normal. However, the lowest June rainfall on record remains 1926, with a -49% deficit.
At the current pace, with no significant monsoon recovery expected over the next three days, June 2026 is likely to end with a rainfall deficit of -45% to -49%, closely challenging the all-time record for the driest June.
Large parts of east and central India are still awaiting widespread monsoon rains, delaying Kharif (rice) sowing across many rural regions as rainfall continues to remain patchy.

According to residents of the Cuffe Parade slum- “A Madam came and left him. Said she would pay for his food and then vanished.”

The best lessons from this conversation:
1) Pixar's screenwriters never wrote for kids. They simply wrote the movies they wanted to see instead.
2) Drama is anticipation mingled with uncertainty.
3) What was it like to work for Steve Jobs? If he thinks he can do your job, he's the worst person to work for. But if he thinks he can't do your job, he's the greatest boss.
4) Steve Jobs was unique for his comfort with silence. He'd sit in a meeting, often with a namaste hand, and let a question hang in the air for as long as it took until he had the right answer.
5) Good characters have a spine, which Andrew defines as the one thing that a character wants or is wired to do. For Michael Corleone in The Godfather, the spine is pleasing his father. For WALL-E, it's to find beauty.
6) Writing is rewriting, so write the bad sentence, knowing that you can always revise it.
7) Stories are uncovered, not invented. They already exist, like the statue in the marble or fossils in an archaeological dig. As Michelangelo said: “The sculpture is already complete within the marble block, before I start my work. It is already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material.”
8) Don't be the guy who whistles on the steps of Carnegie Hall. Who spends all their time talking about the symphony they'll write instead of you know... writing it.
9) Andrew tries to summarize his stories in one sentence. For Finding Nemo, it was: "Fear denies a good father from being one." For WALL-E, it was: "Irrational love defeats life's programming."
10) Good dialogue comes from a fear of a really good actor saying it out loud.
Andrew Stanton is the director of Toy Story 5.
He was Pixar's 2nd animator, and also directed WALL-E and Finding Nemo, which both won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
My favorite lesson from the episode is how he boils his films down to one sentence. For Nemo, it was: "Fear denies a good father from being one." For WALL-E: "Irrational love defeats life's programming."
He also shared stories about Pixar's brain trust, developing characters like Nemo and Woody, and what it was like to work with Steve Jobs.

The AIIMS Delhi exodus: Why top faculty & HODs are leaving India’s most prestigious medical institution.
Cardiac surgeries were cancelled five to six days every month, and patients, including small children, were moved to waiting lists extending up to 15 months, said Dr Hote, who joined AIIMS as a student in 1999.
“About five percent of patients on the waiting list died before their surgery date… including small children. It was not just frustrating. It was causing me guilt,” Dr Hote told ThePrint.
