7/ Probabilistically, she was in the worst bracket. Elderly, type 2 diabetes, cancer survivor. We knew this, so we flipped the odds in her favor: we convinced her to isolate in Mar 2020. When she contracted COVID, sheโd self-isolated in her apartment for 14 months straight. GOAT.
6/ My mom was unvaccinated when she caught COVID. Vaccine shortages in India, and the few overcrowded vaccine sites open at the time were paradoxically also spreading infection. We were trying to figure out how to safely get her a shot when she told us that she had a fever.
