Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach.
The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.
@OliLondonTV Average Americans make about $60k per year and for ever sporting event President Depends attends, it costs the American taxpayer at-least $500k. So when are we freeing America?
@CalltoActivism Instead of sending 30 agencies to DC for their so called crime control, why don’t they just all pray about it? Send in positive thoughts instead of cosplaying goons.
@nationalgridus how can anyone contact customer service? I have called over 30 times since last week and never been able to get anyone on the call, even after waiting 35-40 mins each time.
@nationalgridus Have been on a call 15 times since yesterday and keeps dropping every half hour while on wait. Absolutely shit service. My bill went up 700% from last month and no one I can speak with.
@highbrow_nobrow@Acyn Does he know what a quarter means? I mean it feels like we are picking on a “slow” person here who may have very little understanding of the terms he is using.
WOW! This was sent to me by someone else. This is never before seen footage of Trump recording his address to the Nation on January 7th. This is unbelievably disturbing. 😡
