Ceasefire has ceased for now..Delete the benefits of this ceasefire

The 2025 ceasefire on India’s terms is a stupendous achievement. Let’s look at the context and history of similar situations to understand the scale of what we’ve accomplished this time, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

1.The July 1949 ceasefire between India and Pakistan was based on the Karachi Agreement, following negotiations brokered by the United States. Josef Korbel’s report outlined the terms, including the formation of the UN Monitoring Group for India and Pakistan. The ceasefire was subsequently monitored by the United Nations.

2.The ceasefire after the 1965 India-Pakistan war was declared through UN Security Council Resolution 211, following intervention by the Soviet Union and the United States, and led to the issuance of the Tashkent Declaration. All commanding positions gained by India in what was a costly war were handed back.

3.The 1971 war ended with the surrender of the Pakistan Army. However, the subsequent Simla Agreement was shaped under pressure from both Moscow and Washington, D.C. India released 99,000 prisoners of war without gaining a single strategic advantage—no insistence on Pakistan vacating PoJK or formalizing the border, and no reparations for the war or the refugee influx forced on India. Indira Gandhi was Prime Minister at the time.

4.The IPKF misadventure from 1987 to 1990 drained our soldiers and resources, ending in total ignominy with a full withdrawal from Sri Lanka—and ultimately costing us the life of a former Prime Minister.

5.The Kargil War ended with a ceasefire facilitated by the Clinton Administration. The U.S. struck a deal with Pakistan, promised to ease sanctions on us, and we called off the war just as our forces had the Pakistanis on the run. We had a chance for tactical gain, but we let it go.

But this time, things are different. We have laid down a powerful and unprecedented element of our national War Doctrine:

a. Any act of terror will be treated as an act of war against India. Apart from the U.S. and Israel, no other nation has a comparable doctrine.

b. We hold the upper hand with regard to the Indus Waters Treaty. The suspension of the treaty remains unaffected by the ceasefire, and more significantly, the World Bank has now officially distanced itself from the treaty it once underwrote and guaranteed.

India is a rising economic power. Pakistan is a beggar state. We have shown them their place. Our priority is the welfare of 140 crore Indians—we cannot afford to waste time dealing with a delinquent jihadi state.

भारत ने पाकिस्तान के प्रमुख वायु और सैन्य ठिकानों पर सटीक और निर्णायक अंतिम हमलों की श्रृंखला के बाद युद्धविराम को स्वीकार किया है। लक्षित ठिकानों में शामिल थे: नूर खान/चकलाला, रफ़ीकी, मुरिद, सुक्कुर, सियालकोट, पसूर, चूनियां, सरगोधा (पाकिस्तान का सबसे संवेदनशील एयरबेस), स्कर्दू (गिलगित-बाल्टिस्तान में), भोलारी और जैकबाबाद।

इन समन्वित हमलों ने पाकिस्तान को किसी भी प्रभावी सैन्य प्रतिक्रिया देने में असमर्थ बना दिया। पाकिस्तान ने जवाबी कार्रवाई की कोशिश तो की, लेकिन वह भारत की किसी भी जगह को निशाना नहीं बना सका। इससे पहले, भारत ने पाकिस्तान और पाकिस्तान-अधिकृत जम्मू और कश्मीर में स्थित लश्कर-ए-तैयबा और जैश-ए-मोहम्मद के प्रमुख ठिकानों पर गहरे और निर्णायक हमले पहले ही कर दिए थे।

भारत की प्रतिक्रिया की व्यापकता और सटीकता से स्तब्ध होकर पाकिस्तान ने अपने परमाणु कमान प्राधिकरण (Nuclear Command Authority) की बैठक बुलाई, लेकिन जल्द ही यह महसूस किया कि भारत इस स्थिति के लिए पूरी तरह तैयार है।

आज दोपहर 3:30 बजे इस घटनाक्रम में एक मोड़ आया, जब पाकिस्तान के डायरेक्टर जनरल ऑफ मिलिट्री ऑपरेशंस (DGMO) ने अपने भारतीय समकक्ष को कॉल कर यह सूचित किया कि पाकिस्तान अब कोई और हमला नहीं करेगा और औपचारिक रूप से युद्धविराम का अनुरोध किया। भारत ने यह प्रस्ताव स्वीकार किया, लेकिन उससे पहले एक नया युद्ध सिद्धांत घोषित किया: अब से, भारत की भूमि पर किसी भी आतंकी हमले को सीधा युद्ध का कृत्य माना जाएगा।

महत्वपूर्ण रूप से, सिंधु जल संधि का निलंबन यथावत रहेगा। भारत पाकिस्तान के साथ कोई जल संबंधी जानकारी साझा नहीं करेगा और तीन उत्तरी नदियों पर जल परियोजनाओं को आगे बढ़ाएगा।

यह घटनाक्रम भारत की निर्णायक बढ़त को दर्शाता है। प्रधानमंत्री मोदी का हार्दिक धन्यवाद, जिन्होंने भारत को गौरवान्वित किया।
