The Appalachian Studies Association and the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity Programs at Western Carolina University is pleased to invite you to a free Zoom event. This webinar recalibrates race as a continuous and central topic of life in Appalachia.
Congratulations Dr. Williams and all the dedicated faculty in English and World Languages on being awarded the AU Outstanding Program of the year!! @AUG_EWL@AUG_JAGWIRE
@HollyEvanMarie My flights earlier this week were all full, even out of the tiny Augusta airport. Delta flight attendants were vigilant about masks. I never actually saw anyone unmasked, but they made two announcements on one of my flights reminding passengers to cover noses.

I appreciate the efforts of Mr. Quincy L. Dowd, trying to inject a "flash of fun." Not easy when the book is "Funeral Management and Costs: A World Survey of Burial and Cremation" (1921).

@AmyClukey What are you using as a cover crop? I always intend to plant radishes or something but end up throwing out some clover seeds and hoping for the best.
@PhUsct My daughter's gerbils play background percussion on most of my fall 2020 recorded lectures. Maybe I can get reimbursed for the pumpkin seeds with which I paid this backup band?
We're starting to think about the next LES reading group. Let us know what format you'd like: essays and lecture by Smith, one of Smith's books, or one book by Smith discussed in relation to another book.
The great thing about being hopelessly curious about everything is that you learn a lot of stuff. The lousy thing is you tend to not finish writing projects, always chasing new facts and embarking on side quests.
@joshshepperd I just got a MacBook Air last week, to replace my 6-year-old Pro. I upgraded to 16GB. Plenty of power for small-scale video editing, which is the most taxing thing I use it for. I love the light weight and don't miss anything the Pro would have given me.
@webbsusa@SarahJinx12 Same here. My regalia means so much to me, as a reminder of my parents' willingness to support me in an endeavor that was probably, at times, just as foreign as the bright blue wool-and-velvet frippery that marked its end.
