FIIs have pulled over ₹2,87,000 Cr from Indian equities in 2026 so far.
Nearly half of that selling has come from a single sector.
At the same time, foreign investors have steadily increased exposure to a handful of others.
Here's what the data reveals. 🧵
It was never Retail investors model to worry about what FIIs will do when they (retail) do their SIPs and still they are being criticized.
Retail did their job exceptionally well in investing in liquid mutual fund/stock market investments which post tax did better than keeping money in FDs and this is even after 2 years of poor performance of the market.
Advising retail to focus on illiquid, non transparent, high transaction cost, large ticket price "real estate" investment is poor advice indeed.
Rather long but I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did:
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I lack civic sense.
They can burn streets,
and vandalize a city after a championship game.
I dance at an airport excited about my first foreign trip, and suddenly I am the face of poor civic sense.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I steal jobs.
They move factories across oceans,
shift profits through tax havens.
I study, compete, earn a visa, work 18 hours a day, sometimes multiple jobs and somehow I am the one stealing jobs and scamming the system.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I am everywhere.
I build your software,
treat your illness,
teach your children,
drive your taxis,
and open your stores.
The world became a village,
yet my presence remains a problem.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I am too loud.
The evening news screams outrage.
The internet echoes with anger day and night.
I celebrate a wedding, a festival, a victory,
and I am told my joy is too loud.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I smell of curry.
The world smells of gunpowder,
of hatred,
of division,
of endless arguments about race and religion.
I carry the fragrance of spices from my grandmother's kitchen,
and somehow that is what offends.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I have no culture.
I come from a civilization that counted the stars
when much of the world was still learning maps.
I speak languages older than nations.
I celebrate hundreds of traditions,
yet I am told I have no culture.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I am backward.
I send missions to the Moon.
I build vaccines for millions.
I run companies across continents.
Yet a viral video of one fool becomes evidence against a billion people.
I am an Indian.
I celebrate my favorite actor's success
with flowers, music, and a few glasses of milk.
Others worship influencers who sell outrage, turn every disagreement into a battlefield, and every opinion into a war.
Yet my celebration is the one that makes headlines.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I gather in crowds.
We walk together in processions,
celebrating our faith, our culture, our traditions.
Everyone is welcome.
No shops are looted.
No neighborhoods are burned.
No one is threatened for thinking differently.
We sing.
We dance.
We pray.
And somehow our gathering becomes the problem.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I bring my culture everywhere.
I light a lamp in a foreign land.
I wear a saree in the snow.
I teach my children the language of their grandparents.
Others build walls between neighbors,
argue endlessly over identity,
and forget where they came from.
Yet I am told I should leave my culture behind.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I live in the past.
But my past gave me yoga,
mathematics, philosophy, meditation,
and the idea that the world is one family.
The future keeps borrowing from my past,
while telling me to be embarrassed by it.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I should be ashamed.
Ashamed of my accent.
Ashamed of my food.
Ashamed of my festivals.
Ashamed of my traditions.
Ashamed of existing.
But I am not ashamed.
I am the child of farmers and philosophers,
scientists and saints, workers and dreamers.
*I come from a land that taught the world
that truth can be many-sided,
that all paths deserve respect,
and that the entire world is one family.*
*Yes, we have flaws. Every nation does.*
*But judge me by my actions, not by your stereotypes.*
For I am an Indian.
*And before you tell me what is wrong with me, look honestly at what you have normalized in yourself.*
For I am an Indian.
The world may mock my accent,
question my customs,
laugh at my celebrations,
and judge me through a thousand stereotypes.
*Yet I stand tall. For I belong to a civilization older than empires, a culture richer than prejudice, and a people whose spirit refuses to bend.*
For I am an Indian.
Too much discussion about #IPL Finals
Finally it was just an internal club tournament
However
Much greater achievements happened outside as
@Shettychirag04 and @satwiksairaj won the prestigious Singapore Open Doubles tournament
Many Indian track and field athletes over the last few days broker national records
Indian teenage paddlers Divyanshi Bhowmick and Syndrela Das won the Women's Doubles title at the WTT Feeder tournament etc
We need to celebrate these achievements
India consumes 800 Tonnes of Gold every year
At CMP it's around Rs 12 Lakh Crores
Let's say consumption goes down 20% (Unlikely)
Total saving will be Rs 2.4 Lakh Crores in a year
That is almost equal to what FPIs have pulled out of India in the 4 months of 2026.
Reviving Capital flows via investor friendly policies can reduce the pressure automatically

If you’ve ever worked in a bank in India, you know this truth:
Insurance isn’t “sold” — it’s pushed.
Daily targets. Evening pressure calls. Jobs at risk.
We analysed 8,000+ policies (10+ yrs):
Returns? Just ~5–5.5% CAGR.
Customers are told: “Stay till maturity.”
Question:
Has ANYONE earned >12% CAGR from an insurance policy at maturity after 15–20 yrs?
If yes — show us.
If you’ve faced this pressure — Repost.
🚨"I’m not very happy with the industry. I’m willing to stop any further disbursement or approvals."
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed disappointment that the industry has yet to develop a Six Sigma quality programme for electronics manufacturing. Wants a structure in 15 days.

After the strong #GDP numbers for the second quarter many economists are ralling for the #MPC@RBI to hold rates and not cut in this week's Monetary Policy
With CPI Inflation at 0.25% and actually Negative -0.5% without Gold/Silver the real rates in India are the highest in the world
We need rates to go down to take growth even higher.
Opportunities like these to push growth won't be there forever
If we are happy with a 9% Nominal growth in Rupee terms which becomes just 3-4% in USD terms due to INR depreciation
Then let alone developed, we will not even be Semi Developed in the next 20 years
We need growth push from @FinMinIndia@RBI and all arms of the Government

IPO Anchor allotment is a murky game
It's you scratch my back and I scratch yours
I.e. You subscribe to tough issues for me and I will give you high allotment in the hotter ones
Merchant Bankers/Lead Managers are the most pampered lot by the regulators. Absolutely out of control
A lovely poem by my friend @Dwari1008 "Dev" about what the Ram Mandir Dhvajarohan means to us.
उस पुनरुद्धार का प्रतीक;
दिशाएँ पुष्पवृष्टि से सौरभित;
अयोध्या के जन-जन राममय;
धरती, आकाश,
सारे दिगन्त
सब कुछ राममय हुए
यही भाव है,
यही भक्ति है,
और यही भक्ति की अजेय शक्ति है।

SEBI has just given REITs an equity makeover, and investors are loving it. India's 5 listed REITs jumped 8% over the course of two days.
Now, more mutual funds can invest in REITs, and they may also be included in major indices. Still the same 5-7% rental yield + capital appreciation combo, just with better access.
Currently, there are only 5 REITs to choose from, but this could bring more to market. For anyone seeking a steady income without FD rates, REITs have just become more interesting.
@TheYasminH zooms out of the recent SEBI ruling on REITs being treated as equities by mutual funds and takes a broader look at the picture.
In this week's @ET_Wealth.
