What is it then?
It is just a medium to give a little taste of “power” to people. Not everyone can be given directorships of organisations; not everyone can be followed by prestigious X handles. People ask for electricity, you ask them to chant Jai Bajrangbali.
So a little illegal empowerment, powered by state. Petals showered from chopper, foot massages by police, blind eye to violence. Then the men go back to their villages and vote. The darkness of their future stares at them, but the blue light of their cheap smartphones gives an illusion of brightness.

I head a department in the US, am triple board-certified, with numerous publications, citations and invited lectures to my name. And yet, I won’t dismiss alternate systems of medicine as quackery just because they don’t fit a Western clinical trial model. Many chronic conditions defy modern medicine’s toolbox but respond to holistic approaches. That’s precisely why integrative care is gaining ground even in med school curricula.
