🇪🇺Europe has zero of the world's 15 biggest refineries.

In a diesel crisis, that leaves it with no bargaining power.

🇮🇳India's Jamnagar (Reliance) leads at 1.36M b/d.

9 of the top 15 are in Asia and the Gulf, and 3 of those are in 🇰🇷South Korea.

🇺🇸US has 4.
🇻🇪Venezuela has 1.
🇳🇬Nigeria has 1 (Dangote).

Europe has none....

Refining capacity decides who exports diesel and jet fuel, and who has to buy them.

In the past few weeks, the exporters have used that power.

🇨🇳China paused fuel exports for October.
🇷🇺Russia's export ban is still in place.
🇺🇸Washington threatened a diesel export ban before the G7 stock release deal.

Europe has spent a decade closing refineries and making up the shortfall with imports, some of it from Jamnagar.

Since January, the EU has also banned fuel refined from Russian crude, which shrinks the pool of suppliers again.

Meanwhile Dangote is taking the West African gasoline market that European refiners used to supply.

Europe's refining gap has become a strategic weakness, much as gas dependence was in 2022.

Capacity isn't output: Paraguaná runs far below its 955k b/d, and Russian refinery runs are down 14%.

And the G7 release only covers about four months.

Should Europe pay to keep its refineries open as strategic assets, or accept depending on Asia, the Gulf and the US for diesel?

The Crown Stays with Bharat! 🇮🇳🏑

What a performance by the Indian Men’s Hockey Team! A commanding 5–1 victory over Malaysia in the final has secured the Gold Medal at the #AsianGames2026.

For the first time in Asian Games history, India have successfully defended their Men’s Hockey title, making it back-to-back Gold Medals and India’s 5th Asian Games Gold in Men’s Hockey.

This victory also completes a historic Hockey Golden Double, with both the Indian Men’s and Women’s Hockey Teams winning Gold at the same Asian Games for the first time.
Congratulations to the entire team for another golden chapter in Bharat’s sporting journey!

Gandhi. Nehru. Jinnah. Indira. Some of the photos of them we still see today were taken by a woman most of us can't even name.

Homai Vyarawalla. Born 1913 in Navsari, Gujarat.

She started with the Bombay Chronicle in 1938 and moved to Delhi in 1942. India's first woman photojournalist. In 1956 she photographed the Dalai Lama entering India through Nathu La for Life magazine.

She published under the name "Dalda 13". Born in 1913, met her husband at 13, and her first car's number plate was DLD 13.

Then in 1970 she just stopped. She said the new lot only cared about making quick money and she didn't want to be part of that crowd. She never went back.

Padma Vibhushan came in 2011. She passed away the next year, at 98.

Walking away from the thing you're best at because you didn't like what it became. Not many of us could do that. I'm not sure I could.

Those racists who use the word “Indian” as a mockery or as a term of inferiority have souls that have not embraced the spirit of God.

Racism is ugly at its very core.

And “Indian” is a compliment.

If you’re Indian and someone throws that word at you as an insult, tell them:

“Yes, I’m Indian like Captain Smit, who helped save innocent lives. I’m Indian like the brilliant men and women who have pioneered in high tech, AI, medicine, science, and countless other industries that serve humanity.”

Never allow someone else’s racism to turn your identity into an insult.

Wear it with pride.

God bless the beautiful people of India. 🇮🇳♥️🙏🏼

IISc scientists removed a critical part of a HUMAN CELL !

Then they used BLUE LIGHT to make it work again.

Every time a cell divides, it has to perform an extraordinarily precise operation.

It copies its chromosomes.

Then microscopic structures called spindles help pull those chromosomes apart so each new cell gets the right genetic material.

A structure called the centrosome normally helps organise this process.

So IISc researchers did something crazy.

They engineered human cells...and then deliberately REMOVED their centrosomes.

As expected, spindle formation became defective.

Then the scientists switched on a BLUE LIGHT. 🔵
And something remarkable happened. 🧵

Quantum mechanics began with a simple problem: nature refused to behave like classical physics predicted.

From Planck’s quantization in 1900 to Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle in 1927, physicists discovered that particles can exist in superpositions, become entangled, tunnel through barriers, and behave as both waves and particles.

The deeper lesson is that at quantum scales, probability is not just ignorance. It is part of how nature works.

Modi govt has achieved a historic milestone by securing the deportation of hardened narco-trafficking kingpin Navpreet Singh from Türkiye.

Obtaining Turkish citizenship under the fake identity of Navab Virk, he had continued to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine to India from Afghanistan. Our agencies tracked him down, ripping apart veil after veil to unmask his true identity, and secured his deportation. Today he has been brought back to India and put behind bars in connection with cases involving drug trafficking and other crimes he is accused of. Congratulations to all the agencies for this success.

Modi govt is committed to destroying every narco-cartel before Dec 2029.

📢 In my Sunday column this week, I argue that while everyone is concerned about the challenge from China in manufacturing, exports, and military expansion, there is a more profound question that China has put on the table. On what basis is democracy to be determined? China's argument, which is getting more forceful as it observes chaos on the streets of the West, and infrastructural problems in Asia and Africa, is that democracy must be measured through the kind of goods and services governments are able to give to their people. And not only the voting exercise and freedom of speech.

In a world growing more chaotic, China's argument is increasingly sounding potent. Democracies, especially India, must give stronger answers to this.

If Hindu suffering is not documented, it becomes easier to deny, dilute or rewrite.

In this reel, @UnSubtleDesi explains why names, testimonies and records matter. This is also why initiatives like @hinduphobia_tr are so important. We are glad to have supported its work towards systematically documenting anti Hindu hate.

“Very few matches in history have been as incredible as the final Sujeet wrestled. From the very beginning, Sujeet was confident that he would beat him.” Sujeet Kalkal’s coach Kuldeep Singh

Sujeet Kalkal produced a sensational comeback to defeat Tajikistan’s Abdulmazhid Kudiev 10-9 and win the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026.

What makes the victory even more special is that Sujeet had already defeated Kudiev earlier this year, beating him 7-2 in the semi-final of the 2026 Asian Championships.

From 7-2 to 10-9, Sujeet has once again proved his dominance.👏👏

A similar reward was announced for the women’s team earlier.

Both teams have now qualified for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Odisha’s support for Indian hockey continues.

Lasers change the economics of drone defence. A missile can destroy a cheap drone, but it may cost many times more than the target, and magazines eventually run empty. Directed energy replaces that problem with power generation, thermal management and atmospheric conditions. The interesting question is therefore not whether a 100 kW laser can burn through one drone, but whether it can track and engage dozens through rain, haze and battlefield clutter without overheating. Drone swarms are ultimately an endurance contest. The side that can keep firing reliably may ultimately matter more than the side with the most powerful shot.

[Interesting Engineering @IntEngineering]

The Netherlands is betting on lasers, not missiles, to take down drone swarms.
