Airtel SIM swap fraud, through @airtelindia customer care.

On 6 Aug, my @airtelindia mobile number was suddenly barred.

I discovered it when I couldn’t call my colleagues. Customer Care informed me my device had been marked as “stolen”—while I was speaking to them from that very device.

After nearly an hour, Airtel acknowledged the barring had occurred during an earlier customer care interaction and due to their customer care executive’s neglligence. I was sent to an Airtel Store. The store sent me back to Customer Care. Customer Care sent me back to the store. Even the Store Manager couldn’t get an immediate resolution.

It’s now 7 Aug, and my services are still suspended.

My number is linked to banking OTPs, work, and family communication. A mistake can happen, but customers shouldn’t spend days trying to get a company to undo its own error.

I now just want my services restored so I can obtain my UPC and decide whether to continue with Airtel or port to another operator.

Hoping @airtelindia resolves this urgently.
