PRITHVI 2026 | NCPOR

NCPOR participated in PRITHVI 2026 – The Palaeoscience Film Festival of India and National Dialogue on Earth Science Communication, hosted by the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP), Lucknow, from 23–25 July 2026.

As part of the Prithvi Panorama section of specially curated films, NCPOR showcased four documentary films highlighting polar sciences and expeditions, reinforcing the role of visual storytelling in communicating scientific research to wider audiences.

Contributing to the festival's dialogue on science communication, Dr. Avinash Kumar participated in the panel discussion, "Science Communication for Public Engagement: Media, Academia and Cinema in Dialogue," while Mr. Rakesh P. Rao conducted a masterclass titled, "From Extreme Expeditions to Stories," focusing on translating scientific expeditions into impactful visual narratives.

WORLD PENGUIN DAY

World Penguin Day is observed annually on April 25 to raise awareness about penguin conservation and the urgent need to protect their habitats from threats such as climate change, pollution, and overfishing.
The date coincides with the annual northward migration of Adélie penguins in Antarctica.

The National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) remains committed to supporting global efforts toward the conservation of the Antarctic region and its unique wildlife, and extends its greetings on World Penguin Day.
