Starting to put together my January-April pitches for NPR, so if you have a novel coming, let me know. Horror/science fiction/etc go to NYT and Locus, so I’m mostly looking for literary fiction, short story collections, nonfiction, and whatever else you got.
Here’s the thing Canada. We have more than enough money for us all to have happy healthy lives, housed and fed. Working public institutions. Able to help anyone who needs it.
The fact that we have hungry, homeless, sick people is a matter of
POLICY
Not because we lack money.
I've seen a few opinion pieces criticizing the capital gains tax increase for those with >$250K of gains.
They note a few problems here; a shortcoming there. Fair enough---no real-world tax measure will be perfect.
But there's a "tell" in what these pieces *don't* say....

Iceland has a web page for the upcoming presidential election. You can go in and enter your name in support of a candidate. In an attempt to do so, apparently 11 people accidentally registered as candidates and are now running for president. Looking forward to the TV debates.
Obvious fact for Canadians who’ve travelled the world: our country is seen as first-rate, and a sought-after place to live. Most Canadians know this and appreciate our immense fortune. Remember this as some would try to tear us down. We can do better but it’s great to be 🇨🇦.
